Gypsy Jazz Pickup

Acoustic, 10.04.2016
What is the use of an expensive hand-made guitar if you can not adequately amplify your sound? Gypsy jazz is a niche and only the very big ones make it onto the big stage. Since you make the course with mics and so it sounds best. They also have the sound engineer who controls the whole thing and reacts if necessary. But I'm looking for something that works in the tightest of spaces and under the most unfavorable acoustic conditions. And, of course, something you can handle from the stage alone. NFX-MAC is the next attempt. Although I have not yet encountered but at home much tried and think MAC has potential to solve the problem. Its sound is quite natural and acoustic. Softer than all previous piezo-transcuder solutions I have tried or heard. It is the sound because one can mold well and under the conditions mentioned I can imagine that one can get a better sound than with micro. Micro also transmits all other noise and also feedback or buzzing you get only with the removal of some frequencies. This does not sound particularly great. So sometimes a good piezzo sound is better than bad micro-sound.
Basically, the concept has quite a potential but a few things should be improved and then my unrestricted recommendation would surely be: the grip sounds will be transmitted somewhat more strongly than with some other solution I know, let's see if it is on stage with the whole band Nor disturbed / noticed. The leaflets are much narrower than the ordinary Gypsy Jazz Bridge. I could not install it as recommended because the bridge wiggles and the sound was also for the cat. Wanted to send it back but then I still tried the 90 degrees position to Bridge. This has worked and it sounds quite good. However, the contact area is rather small and this affects the acoustic sound a bit. Just like the nylon packaging of the papers, which can probably only be taken out under warranty. Nylon has on a guitar on the spot actually NOTHING LOSE LOVE Shadows! Also the otherwise quite good preamplifier would have earned a little smarter mounting. This solution with Velcro fastener is as good as an adhesive the velcro on the guitar holds and when the Klinkenkabel 10 times in and out has put the whole is no longer completely trusting. At the point you just can not stick reliably. One could have made a mount which can be mounted on the belt pin. Gypsy jazz is played before you sit.
Conclusion; A good product with some weaknesses. Try it out, every guitar and also your guitarist is different ....

The microphone that needed my guitar

joe-tj, 28.08.2013
I bought the microphone "Shadow SH NFX-MAC" to mount it on my "Gypsy Cigano GJ-0",
And I am very satisfied with this purchase.

The mounting of the microphone is very simple, it is enough to relax the strings and lightly lift the bridge to slide the two small microphones.
To install the pre-amp, it is provided a small piece of velcro which allows us to stick it to the back of the guitar while keeping the possibility to remove the pre-amp when desired, in order to store the guitar In its cases.

As far as the sound is concerned, nothing to complain about;
The microphones and the pre-amp reproduce very well the sound of the guitar.

There are still two small minor defects to report:

-be careful where the wires go from microphones to pre-amp;
Indeed, it has happened to me several times to have parasitic noises when I play (when the case of the guitar vibrates a lot);
I finally found that this happens when the wires come to touch the metal of the tailpiece, and it is the vibration on the cable that created these parasitic sounds.
It is therefore necessary to be careful that the cables are well stalled or that they do not touch anything.

It happened that the little paw that holds the pile of the pre-amp is a little too loose and that there are then small false contact when playing (when the guitar case vibrates a lot)
These false contact created then a cracking noise sat unpleasant ...
I therefore placed a coin of 2 centimes between the pile and the paw so that there is no more false contact.

In conclusion, apart from these two minor minor defects (which are ruled in 2sec) this microphone is a very good microphone, and if I had to do this again I would do it again.
