Selmer Tenor Serie III SE-T3B

Tenor SaxophoneAs with the alto saxophone, the column supports on the body have also been reduced with this instrument, thus achieving an open sound projection that is ideally suited for modern styles. Ergonomics, feel and of course the SELMER sound convince.

Black is beautiful
09.03.2016
Now I play my new saxophone almost 2 months and will try a review. When I bought the Selmer Series II SE-T3 in? Black? At Thomann, I was immediately fascinated. None of the local traders could provide me with this version before buying. At the FMB in Güthersloh I played some rehearsals, including the Selmer from the Serie III and it came in my favorites. Since Thomann has 30-day money back guarantee on its instruments, I dought the purchase for 5.590,00 ¤, to see if the look looks in looks as well as in the catalog.
The delivery then took 3 incredibly long days because it had to be set up in the in-house workshop and then I held the great piece finally in the hands. So that I did not miss the option of the return, I took my old Vandoren mouthpiece V5, with which I now still play rather than with the S80 of Selmer.
To increase the tension of the reader, I will now praise the case. Originally I wanted a hard-shell case because of the security and parallel a softbag to carry the Sax to the lessons by bike and was critical with the Selmer suitcase. However, the workmanship is good, the instrument is just as well protected and padded, and you can get two straps from a compartment of the suitcase to convert the suitcase into a backpack. The hooks are alucarabiners with screw cap of good quality. In addition, there are also 2 compartments: one in the case on the instrument and one on the other side for small items such as grease, oil, leaf cutters, spare blades and so on. After a friend showed me how to apply the numeric lock for the zipper, I also found this feature useful for travel. What annoys me every time is the lid, which does not remain open. It is only to be hoped that the cover tapes still pull out and the cover remains open, if one would like. But now finally my comment on the application of the saxophone:
I only began to learn saxophone at the age of 40, and now play 10 years, now and then with friends, but mostly to playback or band-in-a-box. So far I have played on a low-price expression. The low notes are extremely good. The sound is acceptable and it can not be pushed to the body. But the high notes go rather bad. The high E and high F with help handle my saxophone teacher does not get clean right away. Also the Hoch G (not Flageolett) snips, when I play from the deep register the sound spontaneously.
After a month I brought the Sax to the local dealer, because it was very difficult to speak and I used a lot of air, even for the high notes. He realized that the F-flap was not properly closed, but could not be adjusted and had the following explanation: If the cushions are installed and set, then you have to adjust them. For the DEF flaps, there is no adjustment possibility at Selmer and one must adjust the appropriate corks. Yamaha, he showed me, has set screws at these points. Since it should only take one day and cost 25,00 ¤, I left my instrument there and got it again next day, for 22.90 ¤ repair costs. I described Thomann's case and explained that I did not want to send the Sax, because I would have to give up my new instrument much longer. Thomann gave me a voucher for the complete amount.
Oh, the paint? Piano black and the flaps, rods and horns Brasshochglanz looks really even more geiler than in the catalog, but if there are scratches, then one sees the clearer, because under the varnish high-gloss brass appears. In the hook I already scratches, which I temporarily with a black Edding paint, then goes? S first time again.
