Wobbles and does not fit on a wall

Dirk T. 554, 18.09.2016
The Kiyola is certainly a new class in itself.

I live in a very small apartment at the moment and still wanted a good piano. One reason for the decision was that the only place in my current apartment is in front of a radiator. All other digital pianos are closed at the back by a plank, preventing the air from circulating on the radiator. The Kiyola is "airy" designed, so open to the rear.

Exactly this construction turned out to be a mistake. If you play something more intense (which I often do), the instrument swings to the right and left. Still front and back it is quite stable, but to the right and left it moves too much in the play, which I feel as very disturbing.

There is a reason why the other pianos are closed behind: Stability! This is simply not given here.

Another problem I had not considered before is the pedal block: It is very solid, but also great and goes backwards in the depth. If the instrument and the pedal block are placed directly on the wall, the pedals are clearly too far forward. If you want the pedals to be in the correct position, you have to move the piano away from the wall, which looks unsightly! In my current apartment, the pedal block fits under the radiator. Since I will change soon and the piano should then stand normally on a wall, it would no longer fit.

The sound (only with headphones!) Is outstanding, as well as the feeling of playing. There is nothing really wrong with this place.

Because of the lack of stability and the "pedal problem", however, I will return it with a heavy heart and later (if I have more space in my new apartment) buy a larger and more classical digital piano.

Editor's note: With a tightly bolted cross brace (during the construction) we could not even wiggle with Kiyola.
