It's a total one-trick pony, but it's a bit of a monster.
First off: It's huge, pink, and metal. Built like a tank. The knobs are nice and smooth and the battery flap is sturdy. Can't argue with the build quality at all.
Sound-wise: hard to describe. It's meant to be "rectified distortion" with a "3D" sound, but that doesn't really mean anything. It's high gain, spiky, saturated, and a bit scooped. Stick it in front of a valve amp, it's a beast. Not as good in front of solid state/modelling amps (it's a bit harsh), but still good.
The only issue is the controls. The "Scream" knob is the gain; it makes almost no difference to the sound. It's more like a saturation control. Below 9:00 it sounds like garbage; above that there's not much change. No matter what amp I use, the bass lives at about 4:00 (any less, there's no bass, any more and it blooms like crazy) and the treble lives at 7:00 (it gets really harsh after that).
The "Stare" control apparently adjusts the symmetry of the rectified signal. Again, I find there's only a small usable range. Once you get past 12:00, it sounds more and more like your amp is really broken. It also gets significantly louder the more you dial in.
All that being said though, once you've got it set up, it sounds really good. Gainy as hell but crystal clear, even on complex chords, and on a cheap tube amp it usually sounds a lot more polished than the gain channel. Cuts through live really well. Not something I use all the time, but when I want *that* sound, this nails it.
