The Temptress

24.08.2015
I ordered this to satisfy a nagging suspicion, and hoped to send it back. I have been through 3 chorus pedals, most recently settling on the excellent MXR stereo chorus. The holy grail chorus tone for me is the Roland JC-120, and specifically the sound from the cure's seventeen seconds album. Although the MXR is great (as is the new smaller, light-blue non-stereo version), something was missing. The voice/delay control on the Red Witch makes all the difference! The sound can range from very subtle to underwater sea-sickness, and everything in-between. I think my chorus search has come to an end!

Tr s good chorus!

Coxxon, 02.08.2017
In short: Versatility and beautiful rendering
Knobs that allow to be precise in its settings, one can have a very soft effect as very marked, and the simple activation of the pedal gives body to the sound, even without hearing the effect!
Solid, electronic case that feels the quality, and stereo effect, a chorus / vibrato at the top with both well-defined effects.
More than an alternative to the Boss, MXR or Electro Harmonix chorus, opting for this pedal allows you to create your own sound rather than imitating that of others!

In short:
I was looking for a modulation effect for my clear sound that was too flat, soulless. I also wanted to get out of the "classical" choruses, dominant pedal brands, thinking to find better elsewhere, if not better, then different. And then I was dragging in the "Promos and destocking", when I fell on this chorus which immediately stirred my curiosity. I offered it and ... my sound changed!

We have here a really versatile pedal which I will give you a detailed description possible, according to my experience:
We will start with the only thing that I find to reproach this pedal (and again I make the complicated): the setting of Mix. I was expecting an adjustable dry / wet beast and in the end I still have a bit of trouble understanding it: in vibrato mode it acts as a volume control, in stereo the output volume of the main amp is assigned And the second amp retains the effect, in mono we just play on the signal, nothing disturbing but in vibrato this knob does not much utility of the blow! In chorus mode we have a real Mix setting so nothing to complain about.
Then that good notes:
Depth for depth of effect, one can have a very subtle effect as very present. Not enough to spread the top, the knob reacts well, so we can have very precise adjustments.
Voice: a really interesting setting, it will set the type of effect you're looking for, the closer it gets to the max the more the effect is marked, then it becomes tricky to explain, you have to hear it to understand it, But in general, with voice one regulates the intensity of the effect, if one wants rather to hear a guitar with a slight oscillation or if one wants to hear a chorus leaving not to really distinguish the guitar in the effect.
We can thus obtain a consistent pallet of different sounds, then adjusting the speed of the effect with the Velocity knob: at least the oscillations are imperceptible, but this makes it possible to realize one thing: when the pedal is engaged, Even with Depth Voice and Velocity at least, the sound gains in body, it is more present without being stronger. It should also be noted that the race of this knob is quite interesting, the first quarter we have very slow oscillations, so we have especially the sound magnified by the simple activation of the pedal, then we hear the effect well and then after 3h It becomes difficult to exploit but globally the race of this adjustment makes it possible to be rather precise.
Then the Bright switch has the effect of boosting certain frequencies, the small sun left increases the treble, the right increases the mid and low (my preference is for this one).
To add that the fact of being able to choose between a mode vibrato or chorus is also a big plus because the two effects are very well defined, for different uses but both are convincing!
With a crunch it gives a very nice rendering, I have not tested with more than a crunch, at the same time you will tell me, it remains a rather focused effect on clear sounds!
Good if not before concluding we also have an internal switch to choose if we want the sound that comes out of the pedal is slightly amplified, why not, it can be used if you have a clear sound that tends to be too weak.

And to conclude, I am more than satisfied with my purchase, that good points (I forgive the Mix), I find myself with this superb element on my pedalboard (must admit it is beautiful pedal) with a top service , Thank you Thomann! ;)
