An amazing reverb.

07.10.2016
To cut a long story short, i needed a high quality reverb capable of crafting textures and soundscapes, while also covering the general use of reverb, and not being just a whacky reverb machine. I did contemplate other popular high end boutique reverb/delay brands, but they're a tad pricey and everyone has them! So after extensive research i arrived at the Context.

Oh boy.

I'm in a alternative rock band, has experimental, noise rock influences. So a lot of creative noises/atmospheres/layers/textures etc. I needed a reverb to compliment this, and by sweet christ it does. It's capability as a standalone pedal are incredible, instantly dreamy and luscious, but once you start experimenting with it's parameters and different settings it becomes a whole other dark being.

Of course, this is all good a well for creative experimentation, but i must insist that the sound quality of the reverb is greatly consistent, none of that awful digitally processed sound that unfortunately a lot of reverbs provide.

The context has become a prized possession on my board, a secret weapon. It's proof you don't need to spend a lot of money to sound like the great big blue sky, you just need context.

Superb quality Reverb studio versatile and intuitive

AlexFrom92, 07.03.2018
Returns on this pedal that I have for a year:
This digital reverb pedal is simple, effective and almost complete with incredible sound quality.
It lacks the spring reverb, but it is not unacceptable for me and other pedals much cheaper load very well.

It offers reverberations of the type:
Room, Hall, Cathedral, Gated, Plate as well as a reverb associated with a delay.
It is very versatile with these modes accessible from a single knob.
The modes are very good and realistic, not at all gadget.

Access to the different settings is straightforward, simple and intuitive, unlike other gas plants.
Personally that's why I chose it and the sounds are always musical, everything is exploitable.

It can be used in True Bypass (without Trails) or with a quality buffer (with Trails) via an internal switch.

Settings:
The effect dosage (dry / wet) can be set from 0 to 100%.
That said I find that 45% is very subtle and not too much while embellishing the sound while 100% is less musical, the effect is too much in my opinion.

Then the pre-delay setting and the decay (reverb time) can sculpt the sound that can go from a very short and discreet reverb to an almost infinite reverb that gets lost in space-time :)

The setting of damping is very useful to make the effect more dark and soft and so mitigate too present or screaming highs.

Potard and modes:
The Room, Hall and Cathedral modes are quite similar and range from the most confined spaces to the most spatial and deep.
The Room being more classic and discreet and Cathedral more pronounced and hovering with more diffusion.
The Cathedral mode set with a long reverb time is quite impressive in depth and pretty cool to experiment with although it can get lost more easily in a mix.
Gated mode can be interesting with distortion to make the sound more intelligible.
Plate mode is very successful too.
The delay + reverb mode adds more versatility for those who do not have a dedicated pedal. The effect is very good and can save space on the pedalboard if it is too charged.
Note that the settings change slightly in the Plate and Delay modes (in the latter mode the delay knob adjusts the delay time, decay adjusts the repeats and the damping knob becomes the applied reverb rate).
In use, with a little habit it is not complicated to manage.

In summary :
The +
Superb case, solid and light at a time
Direct access to settings and ease of use
Sound quality
Mix button (dry / wet percentage) to adjust the subtlety of the effect
True bypass or Buffer / Trails via internal switch
Very versatile (Different levels of reverb + Gated + Plate + Reverb / Delay mode).

The -
No reverb type Spring (spring).
The settings change in some modes.

In short if you do not look for spring reverb in particular, it is easy to access, intuitive, studio quality and a great alternative to the gas factories much more expensive and cumbersome eventually.
Personally I am delighted and recommend this beautiful tool :)
