At the moment, certainly the best e-piano in its price class!

Tobias B. 50, 25.02.2013
I have purchased the Korg SP-280 to fill a necessary gap in my tools. Although some of my synthesizers have some good pianosounds, the difference to a high-quality electric piano is of course enormous. Since my current project, however, is very much based on piano sounds, the purchase of such was inevitable. However, I felt compelled to pay attention to the price.
Decisive for the decision for the SP-280 was after weighing the possible alternatives the 120-voice polyphony. In this price class no self-evident.

Soundwise, the SP-280 fully satisfied me. Well, I miss the experiences of a "real wing sound", or the direct comparison to other e-pianos; But I have a good hearing and compare myself with Pianoklängen on CD (Keith Jarrett or similar) and am therefore of the sound quite enthusiastically.
Thanks to the two powerful loudspeakers you have the impression to actually sit on the piano or grand piano, since the sound is perfectly aligned to the playing musicians. Connected to the PA system in the exercise room irritates the loudspeaker sound however a little. Here, a switch would be helpful to turn off the existing speakers.
The piano sounds are neat, authentic and well implemented. The e-piano sounds soothing. Other sounds like jazz and church organ, vibraphone, strings and choir are available, but are not used by me.

The keyboard is authentic, the stroke realistic the whole structure neatly implemented and neatly processed.
The Korg SP-280 dispenses with technical gadgets. You set it up and play the piano. Technical snickering and fancy is in vain, but it is not missing either. The built-in metronome is perfect for practicing. Other playing aids, such as the adjustable velocity (selectable between 3 levels, with the middle level being the "normal"), may be helpful for practice situations, or if you want to solo with the jazz organ (for organs have usually none Stroke dynamics).

The biggest criticism is the stand. Four rods are screwed into the underside of the instrument. If the device was set up, it is safe, without wiggling. No question. However, the handle is often unsuitable for frequent use (about one or two times a week dismantling at home, driving into the exercise room, rebuilding and, of course, back again). There is concern about whether the thread will survive the constant screwing in and unscrewing for years. In addition, the handling of the screwing in and unscrewing is impractical since you have to put the instrument upside down, which in the long run will have a detrimental effect on the upper side. It is good to get an external stand. Therefore, I forgive in my overall evaluation also only 4 stars.
Apart from that, the SP-280 from Korg is a cleanly processed, sonically stunning and easy-to-play electric piano that can bridge the gap between beginner and advanced instrument. In its price class, there is currently no comparable.

All in all perfect.

I am not a profi, so I had to rely on the description and on the reviews - has worked perfectly! Thanks to Thomann I have exactly what I wanted!
The Korg-SP 280 is a super wing replacement with a very pleasant keyboard, which does not clatter or clamp! Feel like the real piano!
