Laugh a lot, cry even more

Wimast, 04.05.2017
* Sigh * the toraiz did not make it easy for me ..

+ Sound. The sound is a hammer, no coloring (as far as I can judge), no dull fundamental tone, as with the electron devices. This is crystal clear and clean, I was really fascinated.

+ Operation. So really, my little daughter could serve the Toraiz. Touchscreen works exactly, reacts fluently, no very deep menu structure, one finds quickly.

+ Features: Upgrading to 1.30 has brought some major improvements (more effects, LFO, usable MIDI out, ...), the Toraiz would have potential to be the center and control center of a live setup. Would have!

Pads. The pads do not feel right for me personally, have a lot of play and can not be played really reproducibly (but is only a small minus because presumably habituation)

- Sequencer buttons. I'm probably spoiled by my other devices in this regard, but I can not do anything with the buttons. Unclear pressure point, low feedback on velocity. But probably also habit.

And now the reason why the Toraiz goes back:

- Mute function.

So honestly. How can I praise the Toraiz as a live gear and then slip with the mute function so?

1) if a pad is muted, it is also no longer trigger / playable. For example, I've built a nice bassline, then I've taken out the BD, Pad continues ... Then I would like to use the Scale function a variation of the bassline as an outro play and ... it is NOTHING. So either you sacrifice a second track with the same sample but without sequencer - trigger, so you can play variations live, or you just do not play any variations. You could also work with different patterns, but then you have a lot of work to do. I was terribly angry.

2) When mute, the track is cut off immediately. I've made a nice reverb for chord sticks, which goes into the next trigger ... Then I mute the track and - NOTHING. The hall flag is cut off immediately. But not enough. In Un-mute comes immediately the decaying Hall flag of the last (still muted) trigger.

So really, that's not going to happen in my world for live gear.

If you can live with the restrictions in the mute, because more prearranged pattern sequences are subject and the filters or other parameterweeps are more important, the Toraiz probably will have a great pleasure.
