This is an excellent idea; tuner, mute button and DI box all in one. But I think there's room for improvement in the features department.
- It's built like a tank so I'm counting on it to last forever. - Seems very accurate, so it's doing it's job. - I use it for acoustic instruments with piezo pickups. One big problem that arises in gig situations is that other instruments leak into the pickup signal via the banjo skin or guitar soundboard, this off course interferes with such a sensitive tuning device. So I would like to be able to set a sound level threshold and maybe have another display option that shows cents instead of just the strobe. Currently I need to safe guard with a clip-on tuner on the headstock for when the Peterson doesn't get a clear reading.
I have a long association with Peterson Tuners...mostly through studios I've worked at, and my long time guitarist, who is virtually married to his Strobostomp!! This is my first... Just for me...not for sharing, Peterson.
It's very heavy...built like a tank in fact, but if you play and tour a lot, flimsy just won't do! The switch is also heavy duty and has a positive action, not something you could brush against and activate accidentally. The DI that is built in is a super bonus! I'm a bass player, and I like to use effects on some of my stuff, but I don't like to lose any bottom end. So I send a clean signal to the PA along with my effected sound. separate unit taking up extra space? Nein danke... The DI is clean and uncoloured, and you have options about muting it etc during tuning. How about the tuner? Well, I selected the "sweetened bass" setting and off I went. The display is really easy to use....very clear and bright...no problem on a dark stage. It's easy to see if you're slightly sharp or flat and then boom...you're straight back to your sound.
It's no the cheapest, but it is supremely accurate and has the added bonus of the built in DI which makes it extremely cost effective...especially for bass players.
Buy it. It's a no-brainer....no really....it's that good.
