Bright + Washy

The Paiste PST3 hi hats are a great set to use if your first starting out drumming as an introduction to hi hats or useful as a second pair of hats for practice. Being 13" in size, as opposed to the more popular 14" rock standard, they have a fast stick response and are great if playing funk or intricate hi hat patterns. They sound very bright, have a metallic feel and a washy tone when played half open. When brought together using the foot pedal, they give of a clean, sharp 'chick', a bonus if needing to keep time with just the hats during a song. Maybe not as expressive or warm as a professional pair of hats at the more expensive end of the market, these can generate volume and are versatile enough to play with most styles of music, even rock, again, depending on your personal taste in sound. A fine pair of budget hats from the Swiss giants 'Paiste'.

O
Surprisingly good
OrtonE 31.03.2015
We've bought this Hi-Hat for our drummer birthday few months ago. As he plays in 3 bands this hi-hats being used a lot for both gigs and rehearsals. After few months of intense use they barely have any signs of wear and sound is still the same. The sound of this hi-hat is bright and crisp. We've tried it for both live gigs and recording and it sounds surprisingly good. It's also loud enough for someone who play with moderate force as our drummer do, so your band will not complain that they can't hear it on the stage. For the entry level cymbals this hi-hat sound much better than we've expected and in my opinion it represents very good value for money.

B
Durable and affordable
Battledrum 02.11.2023
I bought these as a second pair since I already had the 14s. To me they sound good but most of all they are durable and the 14s from same series I have been using for a decade and they are not damaged even tho I am a hard hitter. So now I am going to order the 18 inch China from same series because I am so satisfied with these hi hats.
