In theory, gold coated strings are a great idea. Gold is more inert than the titanium alloy that is normally used. The problem is that gold is really weak, it's almost like covering your strings in wax, it rubs off after a week. That means that the nickel core is left exposed to the air. I highly recommend going with the Ernie ball alternative... Those are really quite superior and last 3 times as long. Alternatively, pyramid strings make 008s, though they're not coated, they're 1/3 of the price, so that's also a really good back for the buck. you could buy single pyramid strings to match this gauge exactly for half the price. I, personally, like thinner low strings, so I'll use the Ernie balls

Pendant de nombreuses années, je n'ai utilisé que le 2028.SL et ce fut une agréable surprise de tester le 2028.FZ, la combinaison du changement de jauge vous donne une sensation différente et agréable dans le son.

Stimmprobleme..

Angeregt durch die guten Bewertungen habe ich die Seite bestellt und ausprobiert, da ich zum einen nickelfreie Seiten bevorzuge und auch gerne Bendings mache. In der Praxis haben mir die Saiten gar nicht gefallen. Aussehen und Verarbeitung sind sehr gut. Klanglich finde ich sie aber muffig und stumpf im Vergleich zu den Pyramids, die ich vorher verwendet habe. Beim Greifen habe ich Schwierigkeiten die richtige Intonation mit den Saiten zu erwischen, sie klingen in der Regel leicht verstimmt. Erschwerend habe ich ständig Stimmprobleme mit den Mechaniken. In die Gitarre habe ich Harley Benton Locking Mechaniken eingebaut um eine bessere Stimmstabilität gegenüber Standardmechaniken zu erreichen. Das funktioniert in der Regel ganz gut. Mit diesen Saiten muss ich aber permanent nachstimmen. Vielleicht liegt es auch daran das ich eine Short Scale Gitarre verwende, aber so kann ich die Saiten kaum verwenden.
