Christmas Song Competition 2011

Enter our Christmas Song Competition 2011 for a chance to win a 500 EUR prize and VIP trip to ThomannAh... it’s that time of year again! The shops are adorned with tinsel and baubles, that sweet tinkling shake of sleighbells fills the air, fake snow obscures the corner of every window, the children’s choir is rehearsing "Silent Night" for the carol concert and grandma is rifling through the drinks cabinet trying to find the sherry. It can mean only one thing.

It’s October.

Is it just us, or does Christmas seem to be getting earlier every year? And are the Christmas clichés getting a bit long in the tooth? Is Rudolph’s nose getting a bit too red these days? Is Santa’s vocabulary a bit too limited? Is that holly a bit too prickly? It’s time for a fresh look at Christmas, surely! And that, of course, is where you come in! Here at Thomann we’re getting into our very own Christmas mood right now, with the announcing of....

Yes, this fabulous competition is now open, and we are inviting entries from anyone, anywhere in the world. We’d like you to write and record a Christmas song, and enter our competition by uploading it on SoundCloud.

We are looking for songwriting and recording talent from anywhere, and we cheerfully invite you to get writing and recording, and submit your entries for this year’s Christmas Song Competition. Entries have to be submitted in MP3 format and have to be uploaded via SoundCloud. Your song can be of any tempo or genre, but it should be themed around Christmas. We’d like you to use your song to tell us (and the whole of the Thomann world!) about Christmas - what it means to you. You can be funny, satirical, reflective, poetic or just plain daft - we want you to get into the Christmas spirit! However, all submissions must be original, and they must be less than five minutes in length. You’ll be able to listen to the entries as they come in, so you can hear the style and calibre of other peoples’ submissions, and you can also encourage your friends and relatives to listen to YOUR efforts!
The winning entry from last year’s competition is here for you to listen to - see if it gets you thinking.

So what do we have on offer for this year’s winner? Well, the first part of the top prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to Thomann in Treppendorf. Read the account of last year's winner here. You’ll receive fantastic hospitality and guided tours of all parts of the Thomann operation, as well a guided tour around the historic (and very beautiful) local town of Bamberg. And in addition we’ll give you €500 to spend in our shop on whatever you like. Second prize will be a Thomann Voucher to the value of 100,00 EUR and third prize will be a Thomann voucher to the value of 50,00 EUR. There will also be a surprise Thomann prize for the most listened to entry on SoundCloud.

So, wherever you are in the world, get writing! This is your opportunity to showcase your writing and recording talents, and be in with a chance of winning a tremendous, unforgettable prize. The competition is open right now, and we close for entries on 13th November 2011. The winner will be announced on 18th November 2011. Full Terms and Conditions are available below. We look forward to hearing from you!
