The plastic native American flutes are easier to play than this penta recorder for beginners. They are both pentatonic scale, but due to the slow air chamber of the native flute it gives a reliable note when fingering the holes, though with slightly more blow pressure needed. whereas the recorder's whistle like fipple is more temperamental in controlling a clear note when fingering the holes.

Warm sound of the Prima Penta ...
The flute Prima Penta is a pentatonic flute, which I bought for my then 6 year old son. Since the sounds in general always fit the success was preprogrammed. Just a few chords to fight and the house music was perfect. Musical instrumentation is just the right thing with this instrument.
The flute has a warm sound and forgives even small mistakes. It does not quitscht immediately, if the holes are sometimes not correct. The robust and clean finish makes it the right choice for children's hands. Even adults have their fun.
Something irritating is the plastic mouthpiece. However, this is also solid and does not break the sound.
