Great value, great tone.

I wanted a shaman-style drum for nordic music - but for serious use it had to be tunable, as frame drums like this have a distinct note and it has to fit with the other instruments. Good tune, and tuning works well. Beater is really good too.

The sound carries so well outside and inside

This drum has added sound variety to several sessions of women's groups and chanting sessions. I love the desert sound my finger tips can evoke from it. I am still figuring out how to use the adjustable elements of the drum. I love it and have made a special bag for it.

If you're looking for a shamanic drum full of bottom-heavy bass and soulful vibration, this 22" offering from Thomann would be it. Despite its large size (I'm petite so I've been told that I look like I'm carrying a Viking shield when holding it upright standing), the weight is actually manageable, and the set also comes with an equally rustic-looking drum beater made of a small tree branch which is quite comfortable to hold. I haven't needed to tighten the skin yet using the provided allen key, but my beloved drum hasn't been abused or left in direct sunlight, and I'm not belting out to "Trøllabundin" every night (my neighbours are immensely thankful for this).

TLDR:
All in all, I'm very happy with this skin drum and I'm also glad that I picked the version without hair. It's been about half a year since my shamanic drum found its forever home with me and we have bonded over time... it truly brings me deep into trance during my meditation practices.
