Mesa Boogie Throttle Box

Guitar Effect

The amp maker from California also builds pedals. These are all highly interesting, and there is no need to discuss Mesa Engineering's processing and quality. But what can their pedals do, and what makes them different?

The THROTTLE BOX™ Distortion serves up all genres of ROCK with cut and aggression, but retains the signature warmth and organic sonic quality found in all our amplifiers. In all settings the pedal convinces through a high throughput; Nevertheless, the tube warmth is always there. The THROTTLE BOX also features a unique MID CUT that scoops out midrange to produce the signature Boogie® “V” EQ-curve that so many artists have employed in our amps to create the world’s heaviest guitar tones!

SUPERB!
Bill Joseph, 21.12.2016
An immensely dark and powerful sound,
Depending on the guitar (and amp) used, it will almost certainly sound better with a lot of mid cut which opens up the sound like a graphic Eq V.
For an excellent and thorough demo check out Harry Maes (BAX MUSIC)

Amazing sound if used lightly
geminimeg, 19.03.2018
I think this is a great product, considering that is a transistor pedal.
I've used it with my Gibson SG, and I have to say that when played with the neck pickup I was able to come close to a Petrucci kind of sound.
I repeat, this is a transistor pedal, so don't be mad at me if you're not getting exactly Petrucci's sound, that's something you'll have to spend a lot more on to get.
But, still, I think it's a very good product, even though a bit pricey.
One more suggestion would be: don't crank it up too much.
I was very happy when using with the switch on the "lo" position, which allows the sound not to be too messy, and the gain set to, say, 11 o'clock.
I didn't like the "hi" sound too much, but I was able to get a nice sound from it when keeping the gain knob low and playing with the neck pickup.
I hope this will help you guys.
rock on!
