Very transparent sounding monitor box

Max495, 29.03.2013
The C 55 - like the C5 and the C88, which I know both - sounds very transparent and airy, but directly. The bass is somewhat more present in the factory tuning than with the larger C88, but very tight and dry, which is also great fun with pure listening to music. The transparency and the immediacy were also what she took off from the other test candidates (Neumann, KRK, Yamaha, Dynaudio).

Mixes sound very well translated on other systems. As far as the construction method is concerned, I have the impression that acoustically imperfect environments have much less influence on the overall sound than with conventional driver arrangements. The monitors look as if they were "direct on the ear", but have a really very big sweetspot. You can get up while listening without breaking the sound like many other systems. They generate massive volume when needed, without having to be strained. Compared to the C5, the C55 sound more balanced and deliver the lower register, which is missing the C5. Against the C88, the C55 sound somewhat more bass tuned, the C88 are, however, still more confident in the low bass, especially with higher volume.

Overall, very good boxing!

Price performance winner!

MFeckler, 22.02.2014
In general:
After many comparisons among studiomonitors, the C55 from KS Digital prove to be a clear price-performance winner. I have never heard of such a compact loudspeaker with a comparable bass reproduction and a high degree of freedom in playing in low frequencies. The KS monitors stand out clearly from the much more popular and much-bought competitors such as Dynaudio, Genelec, KRK in terms of price performance. The decisive advantage is the phaseline reproduction of the audio material and not, as with other manufacturers, only through the "smoothed" frequency response.
The C55 combine both, a frequency curve that can be described as linear, as well as the impulse-faithful reproduction of the material.

Klangeindruck: The loudspeakers sound precise and very defined. The coaxial arrangement of the center and tweeter is very close to the principle of the point sound source. The result is a much better depth of the audio material. In short, the speakers produce a very spatial sound. Individual elements of the arrangement sound very real and can be spotted very precisely in the panorama. The use of a subwoofer is absolutely superfluous. Even with electronic music.

Listen to other studios of similar and higher price categories in the A / B comparison, for example, at the Thomannstudio. In the case of the KS Digital C55, you will feel especially the spaciousness and the detailed resolution as superior, despite the other great sound characteristics.

Conclusion: The C55 are compact, strong tools for high demands and at the same time a suitable loudspeaker for passionate listening to music, as it was arranged in the studio and mixed, so to speak "meant".

KS-Digital C55, speakers, which I would never want to miss any more!
