Kemper Profiling Amp Rack BK Set

Kemper Profiling Amplifier Rack BK + Remote Control

Kemper Profiling technology allows the creation of a very precise tonal image (profile) of an existing amplifier configuration (including speaker & miking). Thanks to the many internal editing options, such as: diverse effects unit emulations (up to 4 simultaneously), master effects, EQ, gain, amp definition, power sagging etc., you can edit the sound created far beyond the capabilities of the original amplifier. The Kemper Profiling Amplifier comes with an already large number of outstanding amplifier profiles, which is why the creation of individual ones is not mandatory. Thus it is now possible to map the sound of your own amplifier accurately, and if desired, to modify and have available to practice in the studio or on stage without a lot of lugging about.

Hard to believe...

David D. 576, 14.02.2016
I played the last few years only fine tube amps with a TC-Electronics G system controlled. This was always satisfactory, but also difficult, and even the slightest background noise was very problematic and undesirable. That would be the first 2 points for Kemper:

+ Light and handy
+ Great gate! (And little room for irradiation -All in one box)

The remote is very cleverly solved and easy to program but not as flexible as the G system. I have the possibilities so far.

I have tried some of the 350 presets, which I felt in their usefulness as right. Shortly afterwards I deleted all (after a backup), because I am with so much selection not to play and me the manageable sample pack (20 profiles) by M.Britt draufgespielt. All I needed! Super Cleans on the tip to the OD, super overdrives, a Dumble as lead: PERFEKT! Further points:

+ SuperSound for qualitative profiles
+ Good workmanship
+ Well thought-out interface and menu guidance
+ -USB-Stick connection is simple and practical, although a direct computer connection evtll. Would be better
+ Incomparable direct sound for recording
+ Low latency
+ -longs long to boost but not much longer than an older tube amp
+ SuperSound also via headphones
+ Useful effects, the most important is there (but more could come)
+ Simple, relatively intuitive handling (not like an amp but until now I did not have to look into the usage instructions)
+ Very good value for money (the amp, but not the remote)

So I should play some rock-like gigs again, I would rather unpack my old 4-channel Egnater and the G-System, because a big amp with a lot of pressure gives a different feeling.
The Kemper is now being used for jazz and orchestral jobs.
I'm very satisfied!
For me not a tube amp replacement, but a successful alternative.

Heart stroke

Didier547, 05.02.2016
I waited more than a month before writing an opinion on this machine, history to do well the round.

I chose the Rack version, but the features are the same as those of the toaster ... Simple aesthetic choice

The crankset is an unnecessary luxury (a standard midi pedal can work), this one is compact, which can hinder some, but practical to program up to 125 pieces with 5 sounds each, and 4 effects assignable on each setting by The top switches.
The pedalboard can also be used as a looper (I do not use it, so I can not judge it)

To simplify: the Kemper is an "amp copier". A copy is called a "profile". The machine contains hundreds of them, you can download them on the net ... and in addition create your own profiles by copying its personal amp (I have not done it yet because I resold my amp)

I had to spend some time to select the few basic profiles that will serve me for the rest of the 7000 free profiles available on intenet so far (there are also hundreds of payers, which I have not tried .)

On a profile thus recovered, it is possible to refine everything to the extreme: amount of compression of the amp, reaction of the pick, sound clarity, reaction of the lamps, modification of the speakers, addition of effects (there are many 'Built-in) ... you can create dozens of versions of an initial profile and create your own very complete sound bank ...

Certainly, we are all digital. A tube amp has a greater dynamic, it is true, but it is all the more difficult to tame. And in any case transplanted by microphones and sent in a sound, the public never fully enjoys your sound "pure lamp".

The difficulty of the Kemper resides therefore in the live restitution through a system of speakers as "transparent" as possible. (Known as FRFR, for Full Range Flat Respons)

And there, we must not neglect an extra budget as soon as we repeat or want to get on stage. I chose an inexpensive solution with an active speaker EV ZLX 12P which for less than 400 euros does not make too bad with a precise adjustment, but the ideal speaker often exceeds 600 euros.

The Kemper is a must for anyone who likes to "triturate" the sounds and to program to the millimeter his renderings on the guitar or the bass.
If you just want to plug in and be able to play in 10 seconds by moving a few potentiometers, go your way, this machine is not for you.

The Kemper site allows you to exchange sounds, advice, reviews and download the latest updates easily and for free.
Kemper announces for February a version 4 of its firmware, which will allow the morphing, that is to say to vary for each sound the different "continuous" parameters of a setting (saturation, Effects, equalization, etc.)

To conclude, going from the "all lamp" to this kind of configuration is a choice that is not insignificant (musically and financially).
But for my part, I do not regret it for a second.
I removed a star on the quality of manufacture, because the potentiometers seem fragile, but it is perhaps only an impression
