Do NOT underestimate this amp.

Nicholas505, 27.10.2013
So i walked into this amp blindly, being unable to try it out anywhere, and obviously nobody i knew owned this amp, and most people were not wanting to even give it a go due to the price being in the same range as those awful chinese replica fails. And to be honest, the video's available for this amp were incredibly lacking.

Anyway, i bought it, and i didn't like it. Until i sat down and really gave it a chance. Once you get the volume to about 3-4 on both channels it really turns into a whole new monster.

The first channel (crunch) actually does do cleans even at 20w, and cranking the gain on it gives you a really useable crunchy tone. This channel takes pedals extremely well.

The second channel (overdrive) is the fabled mike soldano channel, and it absolutely KILLS. Beware, this channel is fizz central until you get the master volume to 3 and above. But when you do, ho boy does it scream, there's more than enough gain for classic rock all the way up to teh br00talz djent, if you so ask it to.

This thing is built like an absolute tank, no corners cut in the chinese factory it's made in.

The amp is feature rich indeed, the effects loop alone is worth about half the total price of the unit on it's own, if you compare it to other effects loop'd tube amps.

All in all, the more i play this amp, the more i like it. My other guitarist in my band has about £40,000 worth of hand made boutique amps(victory amps, dr Z, marshal DSL, mesa, cornford, lazy J), and my little tube monster holds up well enough next to all of them, and that's absolutely not a lie...

If you need a versatile, cheap, well built, easy to use, amazing little amp for any situation. Then this is absolutely the amp for you...

Very good tube tone at an affordable price

RobM, 09.04.2014
I'd heard a lot about this amp on internet forums etc but I never came across one in the flesh. Therefore I bought this not knowing quite what to expect, especially at this price range. I received it in the post after 3 days ( I live in Ireland) which I was delighted with. It arrived very well packaged with not a single mark on the box from mishandling, So far so good!

First impression:
I took it out of the box and it immediately gave off a good impression, it felt very solid and it has a good weight to it. The tolex looks the part, unlike other cheap amps that look and feel like they're wrapped in crepe paper. The only thing I had to change so far was the blue baffle, this was merely because after a few weeks it stood out too much for my taste, and I thought it made it look a little childish. I cut a new one and put grill cloth and piping on to match my cab and now it looks instantly better!

Features:
This is a stripped-back-to-essentials amplifier. It has 2 channels, crunch and overdrive, each with independent gain and volume controls, a shared 3 band EQ and a presence control. The crunch can give decent clean tones with the gain down really low on the crunch channel. At a comfortably loud bedroom volume it retains it's clarity with minimal breakup. If you need a lot of crystal clean headroom at unmic'd gigs or practices then you might want to A/B it with another amp. I rarely play totally clean so it's never a problem, I roll back on the guitars volume and this provides adequate cleans with a slight crunch (very like Slash's live 'cleans'). I haven't used the effects loop yet so I can't comment on that, but it's tube buffered and at least it has one which is unusual for an amp in this price margin. My only fault is you can only change channels with the included footswitch.

Sound:
The sound if this amp isn't just great for the price, it's great full stop. It's beyond me how it's selling so cheap, I fear that someday they'll realize this and jack the price up! The crunch channel provides nice warm cleans when on low gain then as you turn the knob you get a very nice Aerosmith and Led Zep-style overdrive. Very usable tones across the spectrum! the overdrive channel is where this amp really shines through. It can easily sound like a modded Marshall if you take some time to dial it in right. It's a naturally bright amp but playing around with the EQ and presence can make it sound any way you like! I got everything from bright Gn'R type to dark Sabbath tones. Once you get it loud enough to go into power tube territory, it's simply blissful, but also sounds great at low volumes. There's plenty of gig worthy volume too for a 20watt amp too!

This really is an excellent amplifier. Seriously, go buy one!
