Guild S-100 Polara White

soulmike79, 01.09.2015
I am very satisfied with the instrument. A friend owns her as an original from the 70s and I've always been very enthusiastic about the part. However, the guitars are hard to get from these times, so I ordered the re-release as part of the Newark Collection (my first new guitar for 20 years (!) Result: after playing at home and a short check in the Proberaum It was clear to me that this is an absolutely worthwhile purchase.

Soundly between a SG (corpus is significantly thicker) and a Les Paul to settle. Neck is rather paula-style belly. Very warm, direct sound with clearly recognizable self-notes. Great pickups! Great vibrational behavior. A little less sustain than a good Paula.

Great optics - processing overall is faultless. Only with the original, the potentiators and the pickup switch look a bit more valuable, but otherwise I find nothing to complain about. Otherwise all original specs, up to the pickups. Very stable. Great playability.

Conclusion: Absolutely to access or check-in. In my opinion in the price class so pretty much the best instrument I ever had in my hand. Unfortunately very unknown; Therefore little reviews (both specialist and online).

Guitar with problems

CechRocker, 04.05.2017
I bought the Guild because I did not like "everyone" a Gibson SG wanted to have and also their current models in the similar price class not have said.

Already during the first playing I heard a kind of hum, which, however, did not come as usual from a contact between string and federation, but from where else.

The great thing about the guitar is in my opinion that the body and his neck are made of a piece of wood. Therefore the vibrations and the sound are distributed over the whole guitar.

However, the sound of the sound was also not possible. I guessed first a loose screw or nut, but could not find the source.
After playing the strings, however, this sound was also partially removed and amplified and distorted naturally not audible.

I changed the PUs after about three months and then I was satisfied again, until I heard again the change of the strings. Meanwhile, I believe that it must be something in the body, since all the parts on the outside stick to the guitar and I have muted every millimeter of the guitar alternately and there was no improvement.

Also, a covenant seems to be unclean, because I get on this with no string a clean tone. In addition, I did not have an electric guitar that is so unstable in the mood. I must quasi after every second song.

Overall, I'm unfortunately disappointed by the guitar, even if it looks visually great and plays pleasantly.
