This instrument is worth every penny!

Folk&Roll, 21.02.2011
I played for about 5 years on a Fender DG, which was then 300? It was quite clear that I finally wanted to take the next step, to me a more expensive guitar to add!

I was actually from the beginning actually more on Martin shot, had only Martin tried, never Gibson Western guitars ....
In fact, I have also after a few Gibson and Martin models a model of the two brands in the narrow selection.
The Martin d-35 and the Gibson j 45 tv
My decision then fell on the Gibson, she sounded to me personally more simply (is just taste)
I can describe it bad, you just have to have heard it myself!

A great plus for this guitar is of course the look, the most beautiful sunburst that I could ever hold in my hands, the nitro lacquer is a little frosted to make the whole "vintage" look.
Sure, the sound is the most important criterion for a Western guitar, but in this case, the incredibly beautiful look just can not hide!
The sound is perfect anyway;)

Very nice straight for folk and country, but it just sounds genre-translating brilliantly!
Very chic case as I find!

I think this guitar will accompany me to my life, and if you consider, then the purchase costs do not hurt so much;)

In any case try (if / if she comes back)
It is worth it!

------------------------------------ UPDATE: ------------ -------------------------
Within a short year, most of the brains on the machine heads have been solved. They are wobbling now, you can just pull them off.
The fact is that here is probably a processing error and for the then price of almost 2000EUR, I find the rather weak!
I was promised Seitensen Gibson but replacement, but the matter is nevertheless annoying, because of course a certain time expenditure is connected.

To clarify one:
The Thomann service is as always exemplary and here clearly only the manufacturer crafted and not the seller!

I do not think that with every J-45 TV occurs however I have halt (in terms of processing) exhausted the wrong guitar grasped!
If the processing were deleted from the evaluation, the guitar would be perfect in my eyes!

The Workhorse

Uillean, 06.05.2017
The specifications of this guitar are very classical: table Adirondack, sides, bottom and neck mahogany, rosewood fingerboard etc ..
Mine has small finishing defects (nothing serious, but it's annoying for an instrument of this class).
At first sight it is without any frills, almost rustic even, but well built. On mine the very dark sunburst is beautiful.

But it is afterwards, from the first agreements, that one understands better why it is worth the price there!
It sounds round, clear and precise. The guitar is very light and vibrates enormously.
Compared to a Martin HD28 (I had a choice between the two), I found that the Gibson sounded more in the medium, with a harsher, less "crystalline" sound
(I do not know if that's the right word). The Martin gave the impression of having more bass and treble. In short, I preferred the Gibson, less snoring and more "roots".
I play American and Irish folk, and a bit of blues too.
This guitar is perfect for that.

The Americans nickname it "the workhorse" and it is very well seen: a tool to play without spooks, simple, reliable and with the redoubtable sound (and which, in addition, exudes a sublime
smell of caramel! Yes Yes).
The kind of guitar you keep for a lifetime.
