Fender Classic Celluloid Pick Set - medium gauge, classic

Fender Classic Celluloid Pick Set - medium gauge, classic
The "351 premium plectrum" from Fender is an absolute classic, this iconic plectrum is classy looking in 'tortoise shell' effect celluloid and they are available in thin , medium and heavy thickness and in an assortment of colours.
They are smooth, void of the ridges and dimples that other picks feature yet they are never slippy.
I find them the perfect size for all my electric playing, big enough for chords and still small enough for articulate picking or fast lead runs however I do find they are a little bit on the small side for acoustic strumming where I usually favour a larger thinner plectrum.
I have been using these plectrums for years and can not see why I wold ever change, they are my absolute favourite pick !
Celluloid plectrums give you a more traditional feel than the more modern materials like acetal or nylon.
They have a smooth striking surface and produce a warm, more rounded musical tone.
I play mostly blues and classic rock and find they are perfect for that style of playing however they wouldn't be my first choice for more aggressive metal type music were a more modern plectrum would be more appropriate.
My playing style is quite smooth and I I find they are very long lasting, I never seem to wear them out !

5 stars all the way !

The "Fender Classic Celluloid Pick Shell M" is a traditional tortoise shell style plectrum.
After trying many plectrums I finally settled on these, they are not modern high tech, "go faster", shredding picks, no grooves, dimples or gimmicks here, they are just a good quality, plain, traditional styled plectrum.
I used to play with Dunlop picks but found them quite slippy, no such problems with these despite them being a plain / smooth pick.
They seem to be a bit harder than other tortoise shell style picks such as the Thomann own brand tortoise shell picks, harder in a good way as far as I'm concerned, I find them a joy to play with, accurate picking is easy and bright but don't forget to try a reverse grip which gives a fuller and more ragged sound, well worth trying !!!
These are very durable, they don't wear out easily, they don't break or chip.
I use (M) Medium for electric guitars but I tend to use the (T) Thin version for electric 12 string and all my acoustics.
These are available in white celluloid as well, they are the same pick just a different colour, I use Medium in tortoise shell and Thin in white so it's quick and easy to tell them apart.

Nice and firm attack, but not solid stiff. They bring a slight brightness to the sound. I like them as an all-rounder pick.
I like the tortoise shell style. These have a much nicer look than cheaper tortoise shell stuff. They're relatively long lived as long as you don't djent them to death. Gold Fender logo looks nice and adds a little bit of friction grip to them. They are rather smooth otherwise and that has never bothered me. Overall my favorite pick.

Good but not great.

These picks do a job, I've been trying out different types of picks lately and these did do a good job but I prefer some others to them. Everybody's taste is different though and they could be the perfect fit for some other people. They do feel great but I could not achieve the tone I wanted to get from them for my playing style.
