Great looking guitar, and great sounding too. Of course that's subjective opinion. Well, soundwise, this guitar even surpassed my expectations. Even without any effects, processors and amplifiers, just connected into audio interface, already sounds the way I like guitars to sound: rough, raw, metallic, heavy, rich in high and low frequencies, loud, crude, uncouth and intensive. With distortion, obviously, also sounds intensive. Good for many genres which value crudeness in sound. (Great for punk rock, obviously).

My SG arrived already set up sufficiently well, didn't need any adjustments. Have been playing every day for more than a month now. Stays in tune well enough, can't complain.

Okay, all being said, can't give it a highest quality rating. My particular 400 Pro gots one annoying problem. And it's not neck-diving (which is more like a well-known "feature" with SG-type guitars). The annoying problem is that the bridge pickup has a ground noise hum (which gets much quieter when the hands touch the strings). When amplified, also can hear some hi-frequency static noise (much like on vinyl records). Not much of an obstacle for practicing and random jamming, but for recording it's unacceptable.
At the same time the neck pickup is totally ok, without any ground noise. So, it's probably something wrong in wiring (not sending my SG back, already fell in love with it, someday will have to fix it all by myself).

Other than that the tone and volume knobs function just like they are supposed to, but I have no use for them, I just keep them all turned to the maximum (anyways methinks hi-pass filter would be more useful than lo-pass on a guitar). Also the coil split is an interesting feature. Supposedly this should allow you to play with a "thinner" sound. Well I purchased SG because I want a "thicker" sound, but yes, with coil split it sounds more quiet for sure and slightly more "accoustic".

Already mentioned looks. This guitar in real life actually looks much better than on pictures.

Updated model is quite good
Atanas T, 14.12.2018
So I recently bought this stunning looking guitar while it was marketed with the old no binding, rosewood fingerboard, and maple venire on both the front and the back of the guitar (gave it a kinda streaky look). And I was quote surprised to find mine had binding on it so a quick Google search later revealed that Epi have simply updated the g-400 pro.

However I am not at all disappointed with the update, the binding is done really well, looks amazing, and will protect your fretboard from fret sprout, so it's better than the old one in this regard.

As to the Pau Ferro fingerboard, its decent, I have to note that on my SG it looks slightly darker, and doesn't have that orange-ish tint that the photos of it may lead you to believe. Pau Ferro feels nice, it's quite a dense hardwood and it makes for perfect substitution of rosewood.

The guitar sounds amazingly, the bridge pickup is bright, has a nice full sound and when you put some overdrive on, it let's out such a nice rock tone. Seriously a friend of mine has a Epi LP custom pro that doesnt sound as good, with the overdrive on. The neck pickup is middle of the pack sounds good for some lead but it kinda lacks a tad bit more sharpness, however when you coil tap the neck and select the middle position you can get a really good strategy sound, even some strat 'quack' out of it with the right settings. Really versatile sound.

The neck feel and playability is good, however I can see people having mixed feeling about it: the neck is thin, however it's slightly wider than per say the Angus Young SG (we are talking about a 3mm difference here) which combined with the slim taper D neck profile(which on it's own it's quite comfortable) makes it feel kinda wierd, it has some slightly more spacing between the strings which makes playing chords and lead easier, however the wider mech and the D shape makes it slightly awkward to play with your thumb over the fretboard, so rhythm playing might be just right or kinda weird depending if you play with your thumb over or not. Lead however is just perfect, neck is thin and really nice to pinch, more string spacing helps with lead playing for me at least. The only way it could improve is if the neck was satin finished.

Pros:
- the guitar sounds amazing, the bridge pickup is bright, and has a really full, pleasant sound.
- the finish is perfect, no imperfections and you can even make out some nice patterns of the gorgeous mahogany underneath.
-Playability is quite good too. Nice reach to the upper frets and a nice slim neck.
-Electronics are genuine, pots feel smooth and the switch is clicky.

Cons:
-neck can be weird for some people
-has slight neck dive, more of a neck drift(typical SG problem)
- the nut on the jack slot has a tendency to screw itself out.

I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a new rock 'n roll axe, it's nice build quality and great sound. The only thing stopping me from giving it full on recommendations is the neck, you really gotta feel it to know if you'd like it, I find it nice and comfy however. Great axe!
