Not quite tight, the lady "Epiphone" ...

Be-Prepared, 18.03.2011
Whether a final check was made in the house, I can not say, was not there. In any case, the guitar was ready to be unpacked and ready to play.

Features:
In addition to the "operating instructions", the "Epiphone sticker" and the poster you will also find an Allen key for the neck. Finished. But we want to play guitar, and do not open a shop :-)
Full 5 points.

Sound:
Sounds definitely a Western guitar. Powerful. Effective. And both in the heights as well as depths pleasantly strong. No buzz, no buzzing. However, I have the "Martin M140" reared. But with the strings it is surely everyone's own experience. I have this time from the sales rank at Thomann lead, and ordered 2 sets. The DR 100 sounds really good with the strings. Full 5 points.

Processing:
So in the stand next to the Hummingbird it does not look cheap. But that also makes a lot of the color vintage sunburst. Overall, it makes a good impression.
However, one must not look closer. The name on the head plate looks cheap. Likewise the small "Bell". She does not cling to my DR in any case at the head plate. The black paint does not even resemble the Hummingbird. The neck is clean processed. Fits comfortably in your hand. The frets are well processed and dressed. Not quite round at the edge, but also not sharp-edged. However, the fingerboard looks more like varnished plastic. Very dull and somehow not wooden. Despite "Viol" simply not fast. The saddle also does not exaggerate. In contrast to the saddles, the Epiphone in the "Paulas" installed, the acts here really cheap.
The bridge has cracked a few times after the change of the string. This, however, should have been the strings that put themselves in the right position :-)
To the soundhole small varnish defects, one sees. Unfortunately, the overall picture is a little bit off. But what I think is by no means to happen, is the fact that one sees the view in the sound hole through the white binding light. As if the lady was not very close. As if it were open in some places. From the outside of course not to see. I do not think that this is conditional on the part ... I'm surprised that the guitar sounds so good. And the E on the pickguard is a matter of taste. I do not like it.
Due to the price-performance ratio nevertheless a decent Western guitar. Total 3 points.

My conclusion:
Epiphone can not produce Western guitars for 79, - Euro. The cuts are in my opinion too high. For private amusement, however, a very good guitar with fun factor. Easy to play, not so heavy from weight, it has a super sound, and the vintage sunburst looks really good. So overall to recommend. I am satisfied with the "Epiphone DR 100 VSB".

Class Western guitar! At this price unbeatable!

Rainer348, 01.10.2010
For a western guitar with solid spruce top and the mahogany sides and bottom, which is to buy under 80,00EUR, a really great part. Sound is beautifully full and who is looking for a guitar for little money is herewith best served. Only the factory-mounted strings snapped. Hope the next summer will be better, because for outside I wanted to have it. Fortunately, she was also still in my favorite color even the cheapest. Only a piece of neck, which protrudes over the corpus, is a slight residue of the adhesive. Frets and their edges are also processed clean. So order a matching set of strings.
