A versatile all in one

Koos F., 18.11.2014
I've had this pedal for a while now. What I bought it for was to have a variety of sounds available for practicing purposes, while the build in drum computer is helpful in my practicing or just jamming sessions.

The limited buttons and limited display do not make reading all settings equally easy, and there's a lot of repeated button presses to get through the menu systems. Dedicated buttons would help, but would make this thing much larger and expensive I'm sure.

The sound quality is good for the price, and newer electronics mean that the modeling technologies are of a higher quality than previous generations. I just wish that there would be more 'straight forward' presets in the box, with the bulk of them designed to be showcases for what the Element XP can do. Many are geared for rock and metal type genres, as well as more experimental and science fiction type sounds. Of course you can program your own presets and store them in one of the 100 user program locations. Still a great pedal for the price and the build quality is solid.

Interesting!

Marc155, 22.06.2015
I use the element XP, in order not to have to drag the entire collection of treadmills. "Small and handy" was asked.
I use the box in the effects loop and actually I have almost only positive to report.

The most important thing is, there is no sensible delay when the signal passes through the device. Also otherwise, the signal is in no way restricted dynamically or soundly. I tried this at the beginning very extensively, because if something is wrong, one does not need to try any further.

Positive: The amplifier simulations please me very well. I use the tube distortion of my amp for distorted sounds, but I wanted to have the possibility to select a warm crunchy sound in the fairly neutral sounding clean channel of my amp or let a little "Fender Feeling" come up. Both of them succeed very well with the element XP. For example, there is an emulation of a "matchless" amp that really fights me. Although I do not know the original amp, but what happens when you play a warm crunchy sound is really very musical. Nothing Synthetic, Artificial is heard. It just sounds like a warm, torn tube. Even this sound would be worth the price.
I also like the fact that you can adjust the volume of the 100 user setups for each setup. So it is not a problem, for example with a distorted sound with a push of the button to the next higher setup, in which the Hall is a little louder, a delay is added, an Overdrive pedal for a little more sustain and the overall volume around the desired value . In short: A solo boost with all the trimmings. The switchover between the setups is also seamless and without disturbing background noise.
Also positive is the saving of sounds and the editing. Everything is child-friendly and intuitive.

So, and what is negative? What I do not really like is the loudness and length of the delays, which can be selected in fairly coarse steps. You can easily find realistic and on-stage settings, but if I play at home alone, I wanted a finer gradation and a value that would be a step softer, so the delay a bit gentler and more like a barely Perceptible atmosphere. There I find the steps somewhat gross. This is somehow a pity, since the device in other areas (eg volume of the setups) offers the finest gradations. The same is also the case with gain amplifiers or the reverb: there are only steps, no flow of the settings.

But still: the box offers a dynamic and direct sound that only enriches the original signal and does not damage anything.
In this respect I can recommend the element XP!
