Perfect budget-wise!

15.11.2014
Let me start by saying that I am just an average piano player. I have only played around 15 digital pianos as far as I could remember, in which Casio Privia PX-860 is the most expensive.

Having said that, even though PX-860 is the most expensive of the ones I have tried, I am confident to say that PX-860 has the best quality (sound and key-touch). I will leave it at just that, and will not discuss the specifics, as I am aware that I will not be able to give accurate feedback. The only disappointment I have is that the pedals are smaller than the original grand piano ones (see AP-450 below if you're looking for the normal grand piano pedal size).

Now for the more important part: decision-making
I will now try to compare this with the other similar Casio models (only Casio as I do not want to compare this to other brands as I want a linear comparison).

All the prices below are from the current price here in Thomann (Irish VAT inclusive)

1) Versus Privia PX-850. Since PX-860 is just a new release and is just like an upgrade to PX-850, I believe PX-850 will be sold out soon. Now, the main improvement is the Hall simulator and concert play (and I think the reverb effect, not sure about this). Aside from that, they are just the same. Price: 1050 euros versus 899 (currently on sale; RRP: 1049 euros).

2) Versus Celviano AP-460. They are just the same basically. The only difference is that AP-460 has bigger (and normal grand piano sized) pedals, and bigger cabinet. I don't really mind the cabinet since I like the cabinet smaller, but the pedal is the only little disappointing one (Note; It's not really small, it's just smaller) Price: 1050 euros versus 1150 euros

3) Versus Celviano AP-650. AP-650 really has a lot of improvements. But what really is the most important for me is that it has bigger speakers: 12 cm x 2, 5 cm × 2 (2-Way 4-Speakers) versus 16cm x 2 + 5cm x 2 (2-way 4 speakers). And also since this is the '50' and not the '60' model, since Casio didn't seem to release an AP-660 model as an upgrade to AP-650. Therefore, one big difference is that AP-650 doesn't have that Hall simulator. Price: 1050 euros versus 1299

4) Versus Privia PX-780. PX-780 has a screen and auto-accompaniment; has bigger song capacity 320kb/song versus 90kb/song; has more tones; has midi in and midi out. The only upside I can think of the PX-860 is its new feature: the Hall simulator, and that PX-860 has bigger maximum polyphony 256 against 128 (this not really a big deal to me), and that it has 2-way speaker (PX-780 doesn't allow the sound to flow through the lid as it has no lid). As you may have noticed, PX-780 has a lot of 'features', and I was planning to buy this only except that I did not since I don't like a digital piano with a screen. Price: 1050 euros versus 899 euros.

5) Versus Privia PX-760. Since PX-760 is priced at 899 and that PX-780 is 899, make no mistake, PX-780 is a better deal since it has more features.

6) Versus Privia PX-750. PX-760 and PX-750 has only two speakers: 12 cm x 2, 5 cm x 2 (2-Way 4-Speakers) versus 12cm x 2. No Hall Simulator. Price: 1050 euros versus 799

Disclaimer: I intentionally did not discuss some points of comparison as I only focused what I think is really substantial. Feel free to check the main Casio website for more details.

I hope I could be of help! Cheers! ^_^
