Quality Instrument Microphone

David F. 813, 05.10.2013
I use these microphones on Sax and Trumpet regularly with Line 6 radio gear (just had to rewire the plug; 10 mins work). They work really well, sound very nice and full range, good construction as well. You can spend a lot more on instrument microphones but I honestly would rate these way up with even more pricy competitors.

The sound surprised us ...

Dr. Rodie, 23.09.2012
Hello everybody,
I use the TG I57c as Klipmikro at my Altsax for acceptance in the BigBand. So far, we had already used the ddynamic Beyerdynamic TG99 with which we were very satisfied with the sound. Only for the decoupling of the body via the clamp, we have always placed some foam, so that it does not carry too much the flap sounds. When a replacement procurement came, there was only the TG I57c, which is a condensation micro. In addition, it has the mini-XLR plug, in order to be operated directly on radio systems, since you still need an adapter.

In use, the sound stuck out of the familiar but clearly. Clearly one expects of a condensation microphones more heights and we then also partially turned out, but the presence even with a fully blown solo was already great! Well, it is used on the first old. The connection is completely unproblematic, since the preamp does not need much gain.

The (small) disadvantages I will however also not to conceal:
- the clip from mini XLR to XLR can be attached to the pants or similar. , Just does not hold particularly, you have to try and trick
- the clamp is, according to my impression, unchanged to the earlier models, is the body-borne sound continues to exist, the one may disturb the other, make a picture of yourself on your instrument and maybe there is a change-over clamp with better properties from Heilbronn? !
- the clamp fits well on all the trumpets from old to baritone, on the soprano or even sopranino one breaks oneself off, I clamp it then mostly to the stand and play purely

In my opinion is the money, which costs the TG I57c more (with adapter), than the old models for the more open sound well. Of course, the capsule should not be placed alone in the sound funnel, but at least as far as the flaps of the left hand and in the tail of the swan away from the funnel in order to adequately capture the high notes of a sax. The rest can then be matched to the mixing console, depending on taste, enough sound for shaping is there anyway!
