Beginner in the world of modular review of the 2500 modules

Firstly the Arp 2500 has always been my most wanted analogue synth, but completely out of my price range, even back in 1990.

I bought several modules last year, and although the learning curve is steep i have found so many amazing in depth tutorial on YT that i'm already using these modules and getting excellent results. The possibilities are endless with these modules, and you often get great results / sounds from mistakes, of course there are no presets, so i take a picture when i have created something really special.

Build quality is excellent considering the cost of these modules, and the sounds are so pure and rich, the only one negative which has been stated a few times is that the inputs and outputs are not physically connected to the case, so care must be taken when plugging in and out with mini jack connectors, this is a small price to pay and i don't personally see this as a negative, just something to be aware of.

VCA und Ringmodulator in einem!

Ich hatte sehr interessante Ergebnisse mit diesem Ringmodulator. Während andere Ringmodulatoren nur
2 Eingänge und 1 Ausgang haben - nichts weiter - bietet dieses Modul mehr. Wenn UNMOD aktiviert ist, arbeitet es als VCA, wenn MOD aktiviert ist, als Ringmodulator. Das Statuts der Buttons MOD/UNMOD kann mit einem externen Triggersignal umgeschaltet werden, z. B. von einem periodischen Rechteck-Signal vom LFO. Diesen könn te man in den Audiobereich fahren, daß es interessante, zusätzlice Obertöne gibt. Normalerweise wird ein VCA nach dem Filter verschaltet. Im Ringmodulator-Modus bekommt das Modul jedoch das bereits gefilterte Oszillator-Signale und somit wirkt sich der Filter-Cutoff hier auch im Sound aus. Um es kurz zu fassen - hier gibt es eine Menge Möglichkeiten, sobald man das Konzept verstanden hat (die Anleitung sollte man vorher gelesen und verstanden haben). Schräges, Glockiges und Unvorhergesehenes erwarten einen hier - alleine schon als VCA nach ARP 2500 Schaltungen sind die 100,- Euro schon gut angelegt.

Nicht nur klanglich, sondern auch optisch ein Leckerbissen. Die Regler sind weiter voneinander entfernt als z. B. bei Doepfer Modulen, so daß man mehr Platz hat und bequemer arbeiten kann, obgleich dadurch mehr Platz im System beansprucht wird. Super finde ich ebenfalls, daß sich die Patch-Buchsen ausschließlich unten befinden und nicht den Potis im Weg stehen. Man erkennt hier die Liebe zum Detail, mir ist Behringer's 2500er Serie einfach sympathisch. Ich warte schon auf die Oszillator-Module...

Minuspunkt: Die Potischaft ist mit der Frontplatte leider nicht verschraubt - wie oft in dieser Preisklasse.

Voici un module de ring modulation très agréable. Comme pour tout les modules Behringer de cette série nous l'avons passé à l'oscilloscope et à l'écoute rempli bien sa fonction originale.

Ringmodulator und VCA

Wer in seinem Setup mit klassischen Ringmodulatoren arbeitet, hat mit dem Modamp 1005 einen schönen Clone des Originals aus dem ARP 2500. Positiv hervorzuheben sind die CV Eingänge zur Steuerung der Modulation. Als VCA verwendet, steht auch eine lineare oder exponentielle Kurve zur Verfügung, welche per Schalter wählbar ist. Ein Wechsel zwischen beiden Funktionen (UNMOD/MOD) ist mittels Triggersignal möglich. Einzig die Verarbeitung der Modulfront ist etwas "grob" - bei diesem Preis aber vertretbar.
