H lt exactly what it promises

Matthias983, 05.03.2016
Summary:
Huge dynamic range, perfect triggering, natural sounds, easy adaptation to your own playing style.

When playing, the dynamics are the first. You hit and the sound fits. Then you play even more and there is even more. The dynamic range is a factor 2-3 times higher than with my previous Roland module.

The basins range from delicate cannon to bombastic attack.

The bassdrums sound very acoustic, perhaps something too audible for some. The Roland modules are deeper.
I find it great, because the bassist and I are no longer struggling for the same frequency range but more clearly.

5 supplied kits appear little, but they are really good.
On my old I have 3 straightened myself and could play everything with it.

The processing is very valuable and heavy.
When setting up a Crosstalk cancel wizzard, Be sure to run as first. Start and apply the pads in sequence as indicated in the display.

Then call the setup wizzard. Pad, select manufacturer (currently Roland, Yamaha, Drum-Tec), pad type select, then 3 times very easy touch, then 3 times fixed.
This is also the point where you can adjust the pads to your own game.

The fine adjustment can be made later in the trigger menus, if you want.

Previously I had a TD4. When the TD25 came out, I played it in the drum department of a local dealer.
I found the sounds not much better than on the TD4.

My setup: Steelsnare rebuilt with R-Drum Trigger
Acoustic toms rebuilt with R-drum triggers
Everything with Remo silent stroke mesh heads.
Hihat Roland CY5 with FD8 pedal
Crash1 Millenium MPS400
Crash2 Alesis Surge 12 "(connected to Aux1)
Kickdrum 2 millenium kickpads with 2 single pedals (2nd kick connected to Aux2)
Ride, Milennium MPS600 (because I am still working on an adapter (Keith Raper circuit) to use the bell also)

Supplement:
Have just the new firmware 1.20.
Now a mixer is directly accessible from the home screen where you can adjust the volume for all pads.

In the setup I now have Hihat Control with GoEdrum, Hihat Stand and Millenium MPS400
As Roland VH11.

Ride: Roland CY15R (Wow)

Kickdrum: Rebuilt 20x14 bass drum with R-drum trigger and double pedal

Has a lot of potential but also a few weaknesses

21.05.2016
I tested the aD5 against a TD25.
After long trying I decided to go for the TD25.

Why?

I used the set only at home for playing and practicing. I used a TD9 so far and wanted to improve the sounds and dynamics.

To the aD5
Positive:
-The dynamic range is about a factor of 2 better
-The sounds are more realistic but still not perfect
-The sound is clearer, somehow better
-More precious metal case

Negative:
The condition is not very successful

-It has no other features. Metronome, recording possibilities and certain settings like Highat always closed (double bass) are not available.

-It has not been possible to adjust the triggering optimally. The dynamics are dreamy but that's no use if they do not harmonize 100% with the beat intensity. There were loud loudspeakers, which simply did not belong there. Especially in the case of the pelvis or on pads with a small diameter, the dynamics do not appear to be linear in relation to the impact intensity. With much adjustment I could correct this quite well but I never received a perfect result. The dynamics were already close to the acoustic set but felt the performance dynamics somehow disagreeable.

-HiHat (VR11) does not work as well as on a Roland module. It seems as if the module here really only differs on or to. The Roland still makes many intermediate steps.

Conclusion:
Despite the much better dynamics and the better sounds I decided for the Roland. The overall concept fits better for my purpose. I think it is still a great module for everyone for whom the shortcomings are not relevant. It is the first module of ATV and I think if the company drann remains a possible successor which can be very accurate.
