Fabulous !!!

I find this machine great!
The concept made me dream, but I was afraid to be a little disappointed especially after eight months of waiting, we imagine and read a lot of thing to wait. And then the first happy enjoyers of the MPC Live already set the tone because the latter shares the essential with the X. I also greatly hesitated between the mobility of one and the ergonomics of the other.
Well I have to say that this MPC X goes even beyond my expectations.

The machine is really beautiful and its design is well thought out, clear and intuitive ..

On the other hand, I do not like the manual, I find it messy, it makes reading difficult when looking for a simple answer. On the web there is not much on the X yet, I watched a few tutorials on Live to try to soak me up.
But I quickly found my marks and just explore to understand how it works.

The manufacturing is of quality and the materials are quite pleasant to the touch. The screen is impressive by its size and brightness, not usual on instruments. On the other hand I do not understand that on a product of this price, one has a protective adhesive of bad quality which, once removed, leaves a pedicle of glue. Difficult then to zoom on the touch screen both this one is sticky. Shrinking it fades with time.

The Q-Links are really practical and allow to control many parameters. The display of functions and values ??on the OLED display for each potentiometer is both useful and class. There's a MacBook Pro side.

The sound is precise and sends heavy! Akai is not stingy, nearly 20 GB of samples, there is enough to do. On the other hand they abuse a bit by allowing a software installation. Not cool when you have a tower and a laptop.

The MPC X is fed in and out, what to communicate with the future and the past. USB, MIDI, CV Gate ... the same for audio, it is easy to sample and the inputs in front are appreciable.

I installed an SSD internally, this spoke to me indispensable if one wants to take maximum advantage of the potential of the beast.

The connection with the Mac is fluid and easy and the soft MPC 2.0 although beta looks to roll and is useful for instruments and third plugIns.

This is a grip since I have it for two days and but I am sure that this MPC will release my creativity and give me a lot of fun.

When to Thomann, cool and efficient as always.

And yet disappointed!
As an MPC user of the first hour (1988 MPC-60, since 2003 MPC-4000) I have waited years for a worthy successor of my MPC-4000. The first announcements already 2 years ago already sounded very promising. Well, after receiving the MPC-X, the first tests were extremely disappointing! Many functions, such as the "Tempo-Track", which is much needed, or the step editor for displaying the individual events are quite simply missing. A clarifying call at Akai lets "hope" some time for a software update, but this device is not usable on the stage in the current state! What a pity! I decided to return the MPC-X and hope for an update as soon as possible!
