Good quality, strange cork!

I needed a practice mute so I could put some time in at night and early in the morning without my neighbours coming after me.
I nearly bought the ubiquitous Denis Wick but I went for this thinking it's smaller size would be more useful. At first I was disappointed it's not really small, you couldn't leave it in the bell in the case for instance (well, not in my case anyway). I then had real trouble getting the thing to stay in. It doesn't use traditional cork, rather a spongy material that doesn't grip at all. I was about to send it back when I found a fix on the net using a strip of bicycle inner tube. Once fitted the mute stayed in no problem.
Now it works, I'm happier. So what does it sound like?
Well, it does what it needs to do The attenuation is good and to my ear stays in tune. So I'm ultimately very happy that I went for this. It is well made, looks good, is smaller than the Wick and works very well. It should come with a proper grippy cork (or similar) though.
I've played twice at 7:30am and had no complaints from my neighbours, so all is good!

Very good sound reduction

This mute makes it so nobody can hear you outside the room you play in. Very useful for neighbours who appreciate their quiet. Doesn't stop the airflow, so it feels like you're playing normally. The tuning goes a bit off when you use it, but overall good product. Would recommend.

Sehr gut mit kleinen Problemen

Ich habe den Voight Brass Übungsdämpfer über einige Wochen verwendet. Grundsätzlich bin ich sehr zufrieden. Die Lautstärke wird sehr gut gedämpft, das Ansprechen des Tons ändert sich in den mittleren und hohen Lagen kaum. Der Luftwiederstand ist in diesen Lagen bei piano und mezzoforte kaum vorhanden.
Die Tonqualität ist natürlich nicht vergleichbar mit dem Ton ohne Dämpfer.
Probleme: Tiefe Töne B abwärts sprechen mit zunehmender Tiefe schlechter an. Der Luftwiderstand nimmt merklich zu. Für Bassposaunisten nicht zu empfehlen.
Am Dämpfer sammelt sich Kondenswasser was dazu führt das der Dämpfer nach 30 - 60 Minuten plötzlich raus rutscht. Mir ist das zwei mal passierte. Da ich im Stehen auf gefliestem Boden spiele ist der Dämpfer beim zweiten mal kaputt gegangen. Das im Dämpfer angebrachte Röhrchen ist abgebrochen.
Wer mit dem Dämpfer längere Zeit spielt sollte regelmäßig den Dämpfer raus nehmen und Trichter und Dämpfer trocken putzen. Idealerweise sollte man auf einem Teppich stehen damit der Aufprall des Dämpfers abgemildert wird wenn er doch mal raus fällt.
Das Problem mit dem Kondenswasser ist wohl technisch nicht einfach zu lösen.

Es wäre wünschenswert wenn ein kleines Netz mitgeliefert würde das über den Trichter gespannt werden kann um den Dämpfer aufzufangen wenn er ausrutscht, denn einmal rausrutschen und hart aufgeschlagen kann den Dämpfer zerstören.

Fazit:
Lohnt sich wenn man hauptsächlich in den mittleren und hohen Lagen spielt.
Mit etwas Vorsicht (Teppich, Netzt) ) ist das gelegentliche ausrutschen nicht problematisch.
