Good strings if you change them frequently

I use this set on a 6 string bass as middle strings (2nd / 3rd / 4th / 5th) and tuned 1 step down.

Right after opening the package the strings are good and sound fresh of course. Good definition overall but it could be a bit better. Maybe because it's a non tapered so it's more difficult to intonate.

The main problem is that the strings lose its brightness very very quick. After 2 weeks of constant playing the strings are already without sustain and spark. They sound really "dead".

But, if you're looking to downtune your bass, either you have to buy it custom (Very expensive) or you'll end up with daddarios. I've tried other brands from the shelf and they suck or they don't have thick gauges available.

The good thing is that they come in a protective bag, against corrosion, so it doesn't matter if they are 1 month or 2 years old after you bought, they will be fresh when you install them.

So overall they're good but could be much better. Maybe with a hybrid alloy, allowing a better flexibility, sustain, intonation and durability. Also it would be great if they were tapered.

They make the job and keep the tuning but if you're playing professionally or constantly, prepare to change them every 2 weeks!

Beste keuze voor dropped-C tuning

Ik heb verschillende opties geprobeerd voor mijn bas in dropped-C, maar deze zijn qua klank, feel en levensduur mijn favoriet geworden.

My new choice of string

I've been a Rotosound player for most of my musical career. And although I love the sound, the brightness I so appreciate wears off after about a month of playing. I decided to try a brand I'd heard good things about, and see if they could not only deliver the same sound I like, but also retain that tone longer.

D'Addario XL Nickel Balanced Tension strings are world-renowned as "The Player's Choice" amongst bass players of all genres and styles, and I must say, I understand why. Not only do they have the same excellent intonation, clear fundamentals, and unparalleled consistency, so far, the tone hasn't lost any of it's distinct brightness.
I also like the feel of the strings, not too rough and not too slippery, with great finger feel. And the D'addario strings are even a couple of bucks cheaper than the Rotosound strings. It seems I have found my new brand of strings. Do recommend.

gebruik deze voor jazzbass. Dit set heeft op elke snaar de zelfde spanning. bij de E snaar ook drop D mogelijk. Nek moet wel opnieuw gejusteerd worden als je daarvoor gewone snaren hebt gebruikt anders wordt het een beetje hard werken, maar ook zonder aanpassing op zich wel te doen. Klank is prima.
