As a professional jazz guitarist, I felt it time to buy a quality well priced archtop. With hours of research and endless trips to local music stores under my belt to no avail, I finally came across a somewhat unknown, a underdog even, "The Loar". Needless to say I was incredibly impressed with this handcrafted, hand graduated instrument. The materials used and the craftsmanship that has gone in to this guitar is second to nun and this shows in its extremely beautiful warm, round tone, even "fresh out of the box" it sounds like a 2000 guitar. I feel like this company realized that wasting time on flourishes and beautiful headstock inlays and overall finishes fall second and are not as important as the quality of the sound, and this is clearly where they spent there time. This guitar resonates and sings giving the player exactly what you give it. Most importantly a guitar like this will only mature and age like a fine wine as time goes by stretching, warping and evolving into a beautiful beast. It is most definitely a players instrument and should be used as such.
