A lovely mic

Bought this mic for my wife for use in her solo act. It looks the part, sounds great, and I have no regrets on choosing this model at all. She feels that the sound quality is up there with her Beta Wireless. Really nothing to fault it.

SH55

Ok let's just get this out the way - this mic is seriously gorgeous, that classic Elvis vibe is all what this is about.
It seems a little on the quiet side too be honest, tonally similar to a sm58 (same capsule?) with a wider (sub cardioid) polar pattern and less proximity effect - you could practically eat this thing.
The on/off switch is a bit of an odd choice that could have been used for a eq switch or filter - I guess this is keeping in tradition.
Doesn't get a lot of use but I like doing the "Daptones" drum thing between the kick and snare pushed through some compression or saturation to add a little dirt. I've also heard good things about this for bass.

Iconic classic design

I have to be honest we chose this for its classic looks rather than necessarily its functions, but it does everything we ask of it. Sound quality is great, simple to use and manufactured to very high standards. Its only negative is that it won't fit on every mic stand, you just need to check before committing to the stand. I would recommend, it's a quality item.

mic for real singers

I have few more Shure's microphones, that way I decided to buy this one. Tthe brand means a lot for me. It is quality in every each aspect. I like how it looks in first place. The sound performance is incredible. It's so natural and you feel like you are in bigger place than you are. I used it to record my new song. The final result was fantastic. Without any effects my voice sounds great. Shure SH55 II is special voice mic, but I also used as secondary mic when I recorded the acoustic guitar tracks. I have to say it works good for me az instrumental mic in case you don't have a special one.

Better than I hoped it would be

First of all, Thomann service was great, orders fulfilled on time, fast delivery, nicely packed, secure.
As for Shure SH55 Series II, I ordered this one mostly based on how it looks - cool and retro style mic (with Shure quality). The thing that surprised me is that - aside from looks - it sounds great (for my ears - I am not a pro), it is big, robust, very well made.. better than I hoped.
Only thing to watch out with this is that you need K&M 215 Reduction Thread Adapter (or similar item) to mount this mic on "normal" mic stands. Also with some stands (I had K&M 27015 at home) you need to have mic cable with as flat head as possible or otherwise it wont fit because of thread adapter. Only one of my cables could fit there, so plan accordingly.
