Good audio-interface, decent for home guitar recording.

I bought this interface for playing/recording electric guitar. I did a lot of research on audio interfaces and this one seems to be decent for it's price category. Mind that I want to focus my review on guitar-related features!

Advantages:

+Great overall: solid design; usb-powered; support up to 24-bit/192 kHz; good sound; easy to use; mobile; includes good software.

+Nice auto-sens feature (I don't use it, though)

+Stable drivers, which allow you to use one program through ASIO without muting other non-ASIO sounds. So playing backing tracks in your media player or watching online videos is not a problem when your DAW is loaded.

+Low latency with no audio glitches. I use 24-bit/96 kHz mode, 192 samples. Full latency is 9.64 ms.

+Great pre-amps, with maximum instrument input level of +18dBu. This parameter is not listed in specs, but it's critical for high-output passive guitar pickups if guitar is connected to interface directly. With +18dBu you can avoid clipping with any pickups.

Disadvantages:

-Output knob regulates both speakers and headphones.

-Hi-Z impedance is only 680 kOhm, while standard is 1 mOhm. This parameter is also not listed in specs, and lower than standard impedance supposes it should cut high frequencies a bit. However, when comparing sound recorded with interface vs. instrumental preamp+interface, I can't really hear the difference.

-Signal/Noise Ratio is not studio quality: my measurements show -103 dB (A-weighted). So, when guitar is just plugged in and your input plugins are set to high-gain, you'll hear some amount of noise, but it's still good enough for home recording, since no noise cuts through while playing.

Conclusion:
This interface serves me as decent home mini-studio, keeps it simple, and I have zero problems with it. Really happy with my choice. Edit: some more interesting interfaces [for guitar recording] are present on the market now, which didn't exist when I bought this interface. But I'm still happy with this one.

Very easy to set up and the driver works very well

I have used an Edirol UA-25 & UA-25ex in the past and had some driver issues although generally they were very good interfaces. This is an improvement in that the driver seems to have no issues at all and the software interface is also very good.
I would highly recommend!

The Roland Quad-Capture was my first audio interface I have ever used. It was recommend to my by a friend who works in a studio. First I used only the analog Inputs of the interface but a very nice option are the digital in- and outputs. You can connect any device which has a spdif output to this interface and record the stereo signal of the other device parallel to the two analog inputs, in total 4 inputs.
The main reasons to buy this interface were the high quality mic preamps and the direct monitoring option. I still use the preamps on vocals, guitars and piano and I'm still pleased by the results.
In summary you can say the Roland Quad-Capture is a perfect beginner audio interface which can please you a long time.
