Excellent deal

Pluses; an all-solid wood guitar for under £200, exceptional value unlikely to be bettered - a warm sound, very resonant and responsive instrument.
Minuses; I'd researched online and seen comments about past variable quality control for RKs so I asked Thomann about it and they had their guitar tech check the guitar before shipping (worth requesting for action, intonation, no bridge lift etc - though Thomann may not like me encouraging extra work for them!). Guitar arrived fine; just a couple of tiny finish blemishes that prob wouldn't have passed, eg, Martin QC - but that's one reason for the bargain price. The only real problem was that a couple of the tuners were working but a little sticky so I unscrewed them and added a few drops of oil internally in a couple of places - which fixed the problem.
I never liked the idea of buying a guitar unseen/unplayed but decided to take a chance for once - and I'm very happy with a no-frills guitar that plays well, sounds as good as some guitars I've played costing several times its price and that should mature in sound nicely. With Thomann's returns policy and ever-helpful customer service in case of any problems I would recommend this as one of the best guitar deals going right now for beginner or veteran player alike. And really, I have no connection with RK or Thomann except as satisfied customer!

Arguably the Best Value I've Ever Come Across

At the time of purchase I was looking for a guitar to do percussive styles on, similar to artists like Jon Gomm and Andy McKee, though the Martin guitar I already owned wasn't at all made of wood, it had only a sitka spruce top, hitting the laminate remainder of the body was becoming tiring and painful, and not to mention it didn't sound very nice at all. I looked for days on end to find the best deal for completely solid wood acoustic guitars, and this guitar was popping up more often than not.

Let me first say that I was not expecting to break the bank for solid wood, and was completely ignorant to the fact that "Solid Wood Guitars" were so expensive, but after buying this I don't see why they have to be, this guitar beats every acoustic I have ever played, including the Martin GPCPA5K I already own, the neck is very thick, so much so that trying to get my thumb over onto the neck on songs like Neon by John Mayer where your hand is contorted already to play long and complex shapes is more fatiguing than on wider, thinner necks; but not at all impossible. However I personally prefer that kind of neck to the thin and wide "Performing Artist" necks that Martin offer on their more affordable acoustics. The sound from this thing with Elixir Nanoweb Coated strings is louder, brighter, deeper, better than any other acoustic I have tried, though that might just be my specific case. Strings make up for more of a guitars sound and play-ability than people give them credit for, and you shouldn't expect a guitar to sound good or play that great without a good set of strings behind it, the d'addario strings that came with the RD-10 were abysmal, they felt like they had hide glue on them, but that shouldn't affect your opinion of this guitar.

Like another review here states, I asked for a setup post purchase, and thomann of course accepted, to my surprise. This did delay the order for a few days, as expected. This guitar should be treated as a high end guitar, and the price is phenomenal, I've no idea how Recording King manages to keep the price so cheap, all I know is that there's no way they can sustain this, this guitar will gain value. In just under half a year since my date of purchase it has gained £30.

To conclude, thomann's customer service was flawless as it has always been for me, and the product is beyond excellent, if I could give it a higher rating I would, this guitar is a stable, solid, and well figured blanket of tone wood ready for strings to resonate and be amplified by, as good a sound as any reputable brand.

This is a very affordable all solid wood instrument, it sounds better now than it did out of the box, even though it's a bit of a cliche it does sound better thn more expensive guitars I have tried. After an initial set up it plays great even though it has a slightly thicker neck than standard, but you soon get used to it. Had it for over a year now so had plenty of time to try it out. Great service from Thomann as usual.
