This is an excellent speaker all around. I have owned a pair for my rental and sound service business for a year now, along with 4 DXR12 boxes and I am very satisfied with the DXR series overall. So, here goes the review by the categories. Features: Although beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I have to say that they are quite good looking boxes. Not as good as the smaller 12's but still. For a 15" box, the weight is reasonable and I have no problems lifting them on poles high up by myself. The well placed handles also help. It also has two mounting sockets, one being tilted forwards a little. I think HK Audio started doing it first and I wish more speakers would have that feature as it can be very useful in a lot of situations. Input-wise, it has a mixer of sorts integrated in the back with the ability to connect a second speaker directly in stereo mode. It's a nice feature and it's always good to have a multitude of choices for input, but frankly without any EQ ability, it is useless for a vast majority of applications. For that, one star off. Other than that, a very good set of features. Sound: It sounds simply brilliant. Not as pronounced in the mids as it's 12" brother, but it compensates it with tremendeus bass. Indoors, it really feels like there is a subwoofer in the PA system. A mobile DJ's dream, or an excellent compact PA for bands with a good measure of low end. The high end of the sound is really clear and they go pretty damn loud. I have also used them as stage monitors and they seem to work very well for that. Even better than the 12's. Most artists I have used them for have all been amazed by the clarity. Quality: All in all, very well built. One star off for the plastic, which seems a little cheap and scratch-happy. But to be fair, I have been usig them actively for a year now, and they seem to hold up very well, not many scratches. But I also bought the covers with them, and so should you, if you plan to transport them a lot. So, in conclusion: I have worked with a lot of Yamaha stuff and I have to say, with one exception (LS9), they always deliver. I would recommend these speakers to anyone. There are speakers twice as expensive that don't sound as good, and with Yamaha quality, you can't go wrong. But if you don't need the low end, save a little money and lifting and get the 12" version.

I've used mackie 1530s for the last few years, great speakers but a little heavy to lug around, especially upstairs, time for a change. Ordered a pair of yamaha dxr15s, turned up, looked nice ..so far so good ! Plugged them in with my mackie onyx desk. WOW ! Absolutely blown away. You can watch tv in hd ! You can now hear in hd ! These speakers are amazing, incredibly clear sound with plenty of bass. Yamaha really have produced a fantastic sounding lightweight speaker. Well done yamaha ! You won't be disappointed with these beauties ! 10/10 ......buy a pair !!!!
