Excellent Blues harp Mic.

I was very impressed with this mic, it looks great, feels nice and robust and has a great sound, the inclusion of a volume control is a real plus… it would be hard to imagine a better mic for blues harp players.

I purchased this to use as a blues harp microphone, and I use it with a small valve amplifier, (Fender Champ 600). My initial impressions are very favourable. The unit appears very well made, very solid, and has a quality feel. Through the amplifier, the sounds, for me, appear as good as a friends vintage microphone costing significantly more. Very pleased with this purchase.

I'm not a pro harmonica player, but I can play some riffs. This microphone allows for the typical electric harmonica sound, and works fine on any amp - tube or solid state. Bonuses are the volume knob on the underside, the heavy and solid construction, and the long cable length.

It's also great for singers who want an 'public announcement'-sound for a change.

Good Mic, Excellent Value

Thomann had the best price I could find on this microphone by a large margin. It sounds pretty good to my beginner's ears, both plugged into a small valve guitar amp, and into a mixing desk and monitored using headphones. It definitely has a "voice" when compared to a large diaphragm condenser mic - more compressed and less top end.

Something that doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere is the fact that the mic housing is made of metal - both the main part and the grill appear to be cast, and the mic is surprisingly heavy, although not too heavy. A bit hefty in one hand while holding the harmonica, but fine once the second hand is in position to cup, where the heel of the hand supports the weight.

The volume control works well. Smooth action with just the right amount of drag such that it doesn't get accidentally knocked out of position. There is one detent, in the middle of the travel.

The cable length is good, but the actual cable itself is slightly prone to getting kinks. There are guitar leads (I'm primarily a guitarist) that will sort themselves out with little more than a shake, and it would be better if the cable on this mic was more like that.

Overall, I'm really pleased with this. It's my first harp mic, and I bought it mainly because I felt I needed a reference for what a real harp mic is supposed to sound like.
