The SM 58 has been around for over 40 years now, and still going strong! 
It is synonymous with live performance like no other microphone on the market. Many (if not most) legendary artists forged their careers using these mics. 
 
Like its sibling SM57, which is not only a standard for guitar micing but the US presidents’ lectern mic since the days of Lyndon B. Johnson (sic!), the mic itself is nothing but good news: rugged construction and a sound quality that has stood the test of time over and over again. Over the past 4 decades, the SM series has survived many technical developments – a rare case of a product never going out of “tune” with the market!
