A
One of the easiest and cheapest Stereo AB pair support
Anonymous 28.12.2016
Pros:

Using Manfrotto lighting stands for mounting microphones could appear a king of luxury and inappropriate. But the sound engineer who suffered a real pain with a finger catch or a back crack transporting normal steel microphone stands will understand and approve my choice: aluminium stands are much lighter than steel stands.

A +/- 38 cm AB pair (2 x omnidirectional microphones) will perfectly fit quickly on this 154(B) bar.
Add a second 154(B) bar fixed on the middle spigot of the first one (T) and you can create a small Decca Tree system (3 x omni) for a fraction of the price of any similar system.
More? You can also use the middle spigot to fix an upper extension. At the end of this extension, place a third 154(B) and an upper AB pair: you have created a 5.0 recording system.

Cons:
Not really discrete nor elegant: you should use this only when there is no public.
Don't walk on top of this bar or you will break it: it's an aluminium tube, not a steel bar.

K
Extremely useful
Korneel 30.12.2019
This mic support is my main stereo bar for classical recordings. It goes wide enough for most jobs, is light and quick to set up. The third point is useful e.g. when using two wider omnis at the sides and adding an MS at the centre for stereo reference, or to make a decca tree etc. If you buy more, you can add clamps to go for four or more points on the bar. It looks heavy in sight, but audiences have never complained, and in video it is quite inobtrusive. Very much recommended.

B
Great quality and integrates with other Manfrotto parts
BernieW 15.12.2022
Like all Manfrotto products this one is well designed and accurately made and machined. You can fit it onto their adapters and mounts, or even buy a 2nd one and fit it to the centre point to make a more complex tree. Those little black tops are just plastic caps over 3/8" standard mic threads. You can get an adapter to attach under the middle mount to fit to a 3/8" mic stand thread (but not 5/8"-27 without an adapter to 3/8"). It will also take the Manfrotto studs and arms to fit onto Super Clamps or their various other mounting systems, or anything with adapters to their TV-type spigots.
It's made of aluminium not steel so it is light and stiff, but it's not strong enough to be trodden on. It has excellent paint and finish. The mounts slide smoothly along the bar or around to different angles. It has no problem with heavy LDC's so long as it's mounted on a stable base; it won't be the bar or mounting points that fail first.
I use a Super Clamp with an extension bar and can attach it to anything the clamps will fit. Versatile, durable and well-designed and made like all Manfrotto products are
