The guitar feels awesome! It's a real joy to play this guitar!
The magnetic pickups sound really good too.
If it wasn't a modeling guitar, or you use it as a "normal" guitar, it's a 5/5.
Baaaad things: There's a HUGE PROBLEM with a lot of these Variax guitars. The low E string is totally unplayable with the modeling functions if used with gain, distortion whatever. It takes a high pitched resonating sound from the piezo pickups. On acoustic modeling, it's not very noticeable, though the E string is lower in volume.
With this guitar, one problem always leads to another. Now when the low E string is unusable when playing with the modeling function and with distortion, that makes the "altered tuning" -knob unusable ALSO.
So because I wanted to play heavy sounds in low tunings, I tuned the guitar down manually/physically. So I could play low notes with high gain with only the magnetic pickups. And YAY, no problem with THAT... Ready for EVEN MORE PROBLEMS? Here we go:
Now when the guitar is physically in a lower tuning, the altered tuning knob doesn't work anymore, it gives bad resonating sounds when you play low on the neck. (Can't be fixed with thicker strings or anything.) ALSO the 12-string modeling doesn't work either when you play low on the neck. (You can get them working if you use a capo so high on the neck that it's at least E flat tuning. That also takes away the whole point of the functions of the guitar.)
Luckily ONE thing works on this guitar at this point. If you keep your hands out of the altered tuning knob, you can use for example the acoustic models, which sound actually pretty good. (12-string don't work at this point without a capo, remember)
If I would have known all this, I would've never wasted my money on this guitar. Many people have reported these issues to Line 6, but they have just replied like "That's just the way it is."
I'm still going to keep this guitar for now, because it looks good, and feels GREAT. And the acoustic models that I still can use, sound good.

Impressed WELL beyond expectations

The guitar is a revelation and gives me a lot more flexibility to adapt different feel/sounds. This is a real bonus when doing studio based work, and you can easily see the advantages for live work here also. The modelling of each instrument is far more advanced than I imagined they would be, I have heard and tried other modelling guitars, but the Line 6 is far superior. The playability is also as expected from James Tyler. I recommend using the guitar strap when seated, as the guitar is very heavy! Hats off to Thomann for price, delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction, keep up the good work. This won't be the last gear I purchase from Thomann! ROCK ON TOMMY !
