The last word in stage Tuners
Matthew S. on 13.03.2014
If, for whatever reason, BMW or Bang & Olufsen set out to make a guitar tuner, the result would probably be somewhat similar to the Korg DT10.
It's futuristic looks and chunky product design means any other stompbox would have a difficult job upstaging this unit on an aesthetic level.
And it ticks all of boxes that any good tuner should too. It's accurate, built like a tank, tracks the motion of the tuning-peg with no perceivable lag and, even if you're a 6ft8 short-sighted guitarist, the DT10's extra-large readout should still be clearly visible.
Ok that's it right, all done? Nothing more to say?... NO!
As a buffer, the Korg is about as good as it gets! This tuner can actually improve your guitar tone!
Why/how you ask? It is good practice for anyone owning a bunch of true bypass pedals and/or long cables to insert a buffer into the circuit to prevent high end loss or circuitry/routing loading-down the input signal strength. As a buffered pedal, the Korg works in your favour to help prevent those undesirable effects.
Already got a buffer in your chain? Well it is also worth noting that not all buffers are created equal. In fact, many are rather poor, creating pops on your other pedals and unwanted crackle from pots in the signal chain. The Korg's buffer is as good as your are likely to find and is comparable to expensive stand-alone buffer pedals.
I cannot recommend this tuner highly enough. Value-wise I cannot fault the Korg. It has great functionality, military grade build quality and a superb buffer in a super-sleek, brushed aluminium package.
