This pedal shares a lot of similarities (number and function of the knobs) with this previous model, and adds longer delays and a couple of new features. For instance, you can now go up to 6.4sec delay (mode 3200ms long), and record up to 40sec in Hold mode to do overdubs or solo rhythms. The Reverse and Warp modes are remnants of the DD-6 pedal. New modes include Modulate, which is similar to a chorus effect, and Analog which emulates discontinued DM-2 (analog delay) pedal. One last thing the DD-6 didn't have and that is included here: the tap tempo can be set using an external foot Switch. The first 3 knobs (Level, F'Back, and D'Time) are standard on pretty much any delay pedal, so it was very intuitive at first to use it straight out of the box. Reading the manual was really helpful to figure out what the 'Mode' knob does, especially regarding the new or unusual features. It even comes with a few recommended settings to get particular sounds. Overall, after reading the manual, you can get a good idea of what this pedal is capable of after a couple hours of playing around.

First loop pedal

This is my first loop pedal, having looked around at the various options I found that the DD-7 was a pedal that had one of the largest variety of functions and uses, including analog delay emulation and a hold function.

As I'm still trying to find what I enjoy playing, the wide variety of functions was the selling point for me. Allows me to get a wide variety of sounds!

I've played around with the 40s hold function that seems a bit short and for me the sound quality seems a bit poor. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong? Still, kinda handy to experiment with as I don't have a looper.

Knowing what I know now, I personally would prefer a simpler (better quality) analog delay and sacrifice some of the features that the DD-7 has.

Great small digital delay

Keeps your guitar tone (no tone suck or very little). Very transparent. I like the Stereo sound, it makes nice effect. Exact delay times are hard to set with the knobs if that is required. Have not used the looper or tap tempo much, but what I have tested they work as supposed. Tested the tap tempo with external Boss tap tempo pedal and it works nicely too. I use this in the effects loop of my amp, because it does not sound good in front of amp that distorts (most delays do not). Modulation mode "chorus type effect" is fine and could replace chorus pedal in normal requirements. Analog delay mode is ok, but compared to my MXR carbon copy it just don't have the soft-deep-spaceness. Reverse mode is cool effect to use sometimes. Some features I miss on this pedal and it would be "perfect" are small number display for accurate settings and shimmer effect. When new to this pedal sometimes got lost what mode was selected with the footswitch, but read the manual few times to understand the features. Great compact size pedal. Have stayed in my board from day one.

Great Pedal

Brilliant pedal, you can never go wrong with Boss. Sounds effects are great, they don't sound cheesy or tacky. Very simple to use, handling is very easy. I would probably consider boss pedals the "industry standard". Would recommend.
