I had used this interface for over a year (both Mac and PC) before I bought RME Babyface so I hope my quite long experience with this interface could be useful for others.

So here are the pros and cons that I can mention.

Pros:
1) First of all that's the price as I already said. You won't get a better device with such great and huge features for 300 euro.
2) 8 XLR inputs with quite good quality preamps (not so perfect as in RME or other top class devices, but for the price you pay that's really worthy) plus 6 (six!) line ins (two of them have preamps too) that could be used SIMULTANEOUSLY! Yeah, that's really true! So could you imagine that if you had an additional 4 channel preamp you'll be able to record sound from 14 mics at once - that's enough to record some rock band live (totally miced drum set, 2 guitars with 2 mics each, bass and even keyboards). That's really the best (but sadly the only...) feature of this unit.
3) MIDI in/out + Digital in/out - not the last things in the studio.
4) 6 line outs (2 main and 4 others) - really good then using more than a pair of monitors.

Cons: (frankly speaking they are just the consequences of the low price)
1) Overall built quality. Look not so "luxurious" as top class interfaces.
2) Not perfect preamps that causes bad amplification curve. The sound could be hardly preamplified then turning the knob from, for example, nine o'clock to twelve and then it bursts for lots of dB.
3) Just one headphones out.
4) It has some kind of "drivers", but there is no possibility to set up anything, just the frequency rate and that's all. No mixers, no additional settings - nothing.
5) Frequent crashes and bugs that could be healed by turning on/off the device and sometimes the application you use.

Anyway, despite its cons, I think that's the best interface that you can buy for a little bit more than 300 euro. Price/quality/features ratio is really impressive. So I'd reccomend Tascam US-1800 for the small independent studios (or bands rehearsal places), really great to record demos or underground non-commercial albums!

This is a good product, some reviews are rubbish, but this is a good product for the price, the pre-amps sound great, it has got 8 XLR inputs on the front, 2 Jack on the front, and 4 stereo on the back, adding up to 14 individual inputs for recording. These are great for live and for studio. i use this in my studio all the time. It has got the feature of using for Mac and windows, i use this for mac with logic, i can record all 14 inputs simontainously, which is what i wanted. It has got 4 outputs to, which i can connect toi go into my mixingg desk, or for headphone mixes depending on what i want. GREAT PRODUCT!

I'd faced problems after almost 1 year of use with the USB connection and the power supply. Fortunately thomann's service is excellent and now is working again.

It's worth it!! there are a lot of reviews regarding faulty products and admittedly I had to return mine for the input/computer control, I couldn't hear anything from the inputs, unless it was cranked to the last... Thomann couldn't find any fault but to their credit, they sent me a replacement anyways. I have had mine for six months now and no issues whatsoever, and as other reviews say, when they work, they work! I would not chance buying this with any other company other than thomann,

up to 14 inputs........ 14 :D. 8 mic pres, two line pres and two stereo fixed inputs, but 4 line inputs can still be used and assigned its own track in your daw, so a few cheap external mic pres really free up this piece of kit.

the input gain seems very sensitive, goes from quiet to clipping in a fraction of a turn sometimes

that input/computer control seems like an afterthought. it's not nice at all, enough said!

But at the end of the day I can track a full 7 mic kit, and mic a guitar, and have direct bass in, and still have a bit of scope after that too............. for what you're paying :D
