Does what it should do with one issue
Jørg 07.02.2023
Reissue of the classic booster from the 70’s, used by Ace Frehley and others.
Pedal format is better than the old plugin format, also more durable that way.
This is a boost intended to hotten an amp up, which means in front of the preamp and not the fx loop, which means driving lower gain amps into more gain, as example a fully crancked JCM800, not much noise with the LOB at 12-1 o’clock.

It does also work quite well with high gain amps, like a Bogner Uberschall, but with half gain and not full and the LPB around 9 o’clock, unless one can live with the noise.
The LPB is not completely linear nor transparent, it boost mid to high frequencies more and also adds saturation that sounds like a tiny amount of muff gain.

It also plays really well with the guitars volmue knob, not for cleanup but for rythm at 7-8 and solo at 10.
For an on/off solo pedal there are better options out there, the LPB-1 is better as an always on pedal in the front of the signal chain.

I did read some where dissapointed since they bought it to use it with an acoustic guitar, maybe use time to investigate before buying?
There is one negative thing with the pedal though, lack of grounding, which results in that it buzzes everytime the casing or the switch is touched.

I suspect that the original design used either ground via the jacks or the switch.
The jacks sleeve is isolated from the casing like the rest of the circuit, since the jacks come with some thick plastic washers behind the nut, replacing those with metal washers of the same thickness fixes the issue.

Bygget som en kampvogn
Anonym 18.01.2016
