I purchased the trimmer as I had bought numerous saxophone reeds and the majority always needed some form of slight adjustment. It would have been impossible to get the concise minimum amount of trimming without using this.

Its a must for any saxophone player and I would recommend it to any saxophone player.

This is not a tool that I use all the time, as finding the just the right amount of reed to cut off - and even knowing when you have made the correct adjustment of the reed - can be tricky.

I have ruined at least 5 reeds, that may have been playable from rubbing on a re-surfacer by chopping off too much from the tip.

Some markings on the tool, indicating the starting position for the reed, could be useful in order to offer some (literal) guidelines to position the reed before trimming.

The other issue I found with this particular model is that it's not very sharp. Some reeds trim unevenly, and there are often bits of cut reed left between the end of the trimming tool and the the top area of the trimmer itself.

A few more improvements to the tool could make it more useful. For now, it remains nothing more than an interesting desk decoration in my studio.

Ganz einfach und sicher anzuwenden. Macht exakt, abgerundete Blattspitzen, die perfekt zu den Mundstückspitzen passen. Je nach dem wie viel man abtrennt, müssen die Blätter mit der Klinge nachgearbeitet werden, um das Schwingungsverhalten über die gesamte Länge wieder herzustellen.

Ich verwende Klingen von einem Teppichmesser (ein Satz zu 5 Stück kosten so 3-4 Euro und halten fast ewig) und lege die Blätter einfach auf einen kleinen Bilderrahmen. Diese kann man billigst in einem Baumarkt erstehen. Die Rahmen haben den Vorteil, dass die Glasscheiben von hintern durch Klammerfedern gehalten werden und bei zu viel Druck beim Abschaben von Blattmaterial leicht nachgeben. Wir reden hier nämlich von irre wenig Material was da an einigen Stellen weggeschabt werden muss.

Tipp: Immer mal wieder anblasen und solange bearbeiten bis die Tiefen bis zum Bb direkt, sauber und leicht ansprechen. Gute Infos zum Blatt Bearbeiten gibts über Google im Internet, da wird sehr genau erklärt an welchen Stellen man was bearbeiten soll und welche Stellen kritisch sind.

Übrigens: Das Herz des Blattes muss hingegen den Beschreibungen auch bearbeitet werden, wenn man das Blatt kürzt, sonst braucht man schon einen Kompressor bis erst das Tiefe D anspricht. Man übt besser mal mit einigen alten Blättern bis man das wechselweise, diagonale Abschaben so drauf hat. Gutes Gelingen und viel Erfolg!

La partie coulissante n'est pas suffisamment ajustée sur le support, beaucoup trop de jeu.
Lorsqu'on visse pour faire monter l'anche, tout part en biais.
Il faut, alors, réaligner sans cesse l'anche pour la couper correctement.
Très déçu du produit, alors que j'en ai un depuis quarante ans d'un modèle similaire pour clarinette qui est parfait.
Qualité, quand tu te perds.......
